Wonderful conditions at Porthkerris this week so far.
Loads of life including this rarely seen and unusual Red Bandfish.
Great picture by Tom Ingram!!

THIS WEEKS BEST FIND! πŸ‘€πŸͺ±

Seen by a handful of lucky divers these last few days on the shore dive and beautifully pictured by Tom Ingram - the Red Band fish! 🀩

Usually hiding in their vertical burrows these fish can grow up to 70cm long (this one was around that length!) and they aren’t a very common fish to see on a dive. They feed similar to garden eels from their burrows and are a tasty meal for other sea life such as John dories and dolphins (also seen frequently at Porthkerris!)

Who else has managed to spot this?🀩

On a guided shore dive at Porthkerris today we saw this amazing brightly coloured Nudibranch!
At first I thought it was another (Babakina Anadoni) but now think it could be a (Berghia coerulescens).
If it is this species it would be very unusual!
Any thoughts from experts out there?
It was approx 3.5 cm long.
( I have looked in the excellent new book by Bernard Picton and Christine Morrow "Nudibranchs of Britain")
The water is unusually warm at 17 degrees & teeming with life!
Thanks to Dries Erftemeijer for the video!
