Raleigh Cottage is a beautiful thatched one bedroom cottage, set within the five acres of grounds surrounding our Grade two Listed 16c Devon longhouse.

Historically thought to have been a cottage on the 400 year-old farmstead, it has been sensitively renovated and the original character preserved. The interiors are designed to provide the perfect rural retreat, well equipped and comfortable.

The bedroom sleeps two in a kingsize bed and boasts beautiful views over its private cottage garden and on to the gently rolling hills of North Devon. Wake up to the sight of the cows peacefully grazing in the fields and the Devon countryside.

Myles and I decided to have a night in Raleigh Lodge. I can confirm it was very cosy and comfy. We watched the bats and the bunnies and listened to the owls.

A few days cycling on Dartmoor.fantastic pubs and warm welcomes.Dartmoor was stunning even on a few quite damp days. We are lucky here at Sage doors that both Dartmoor and Exmoor are within striking distance. On a clear day you can see both from Common Moor which is just above us here.

Had to hunt around for flowers today but it is November.All ready for tomorrow's guests in the lodge.

The swallows that swoop over the meadow in the summer have been replaced by the starlings seeking milder climes in which to overwinter.Their mumurations are a true delight. Raleigh lodge sits alone looking out over the meadow onto the wood beyond.
