Our day 2 of The Great Glen Way, Gairlochy to South Laggan, the length of Loch Lochy which is around a 20km cycle.

A fantastic day out on the West Coast of Scotland ❤ around 2hrs from Oakwood Hide.

I've walked sections of the Great Glen Way but have never completed the whole route. Today, Day 1 we cycled from Fort William (around an hours drive from Oakwood Hide) to Loch Lochy and back to Fort William, around 23km.

Culbin Forest about an hours drive from Oakwood Hide. Fantastic day out, cycling, snorkelling/swim (as we had the beach to ourselves I enjoyed a meditation whilst my children and husband braved the sea), a wander up to the viewpoint tower where we could see Meall Fuar-mhonaidh by Drumnadrochit in the distance and we enjoyed a picnic. Great day out.

Our nature pond is now full tho I'm not sure our children are ready to let it go as they are enjoying swimming and snorkelling in it! I think choosing our plants and then planting up might be the most challenging part of putting the pond in but I think it's going to look fantastic when it's finished.

We had a wee stroll to Corrimony Chambered Cairn today (under 15minute drive from Oakwood Hide) and on the way home we bought a wee bunch of flowers from The Wild Acre Corrimony flower shed. Gorgeous 💐

Beautiful day for a walk to Queen Mary's Rock (Craigmonie in Drumnadrochit).

Loch Meiklie, Glen Urquhart (under 10minutes from Oakwood Hide). The water has been so warm lately due to our gorgeous weather making the loch the perfect place for a wild swim.

Fyrish Monument, near Alness (about an hours drive from Oakwood Hide, Drumnadrochit). A really lovely walk through forestry which normally takes around 45minutes to get up to the monument but we kept stopping to enjoy the views over the Cromarty Firth and spent a little time at the wee Lochan.

After our walk we decided to drive to Nigg which is on the Northern side of the Cromarty Firth and took the wee Cromarty-Nigg Ferry over to Cromarty which my children thought was great fun. Once in Cromarty it was time for a wee swim before heading back home to Drumnadrochit.
