It's been a very busy start to the season this year. So much so that we've barely had a new booking over the last month as we are more or less full already until the end of September. Most folk seem to be coming for shorter stays these days and with our minimum stay being 3 nights in our studio our dates have filled very quickly. This means that anyone who wants to come for longer misses out as there's only short blocks of dates in between bookings. So, I'm just about to open our calendar for next year to allow anyone who wants a longer stay the chance to beat the rush. If you book now for next year you will also avoid the price increase (we haven't increased our prices for a few years) The dates should be live in the next week. So if you're thinking of a Skye holiday next year and there's just two of you why not have a look at our cosy Studio for two? or sample our Scottish breakfast in our B & B room 'The purple room at Strathallan'.

Well hasn't it been the weirdest winter in the UK this year? We've had prolonged freezing temperatures, snow and latterly storm after storm. The signs of spring are starting to show with the snowdrops and daffies popping through and we're longing for the warm sun on our faces.

Our 2024 calendar is filling up fast for B&B and The Bijou so you better get in quick if you're planning a Skye visit this year. I think it's going to be busier than ever. Well, it's the end of what has been a very busy season. We are open right through though, if you fancy a winter break drop us a message for a winter discount. I'm just about to open our dates for next year so get in quick as I think they will go fast if this year has anything to go by. After our well earned holiday in Speyside I'm now getting organised for a busy Christmas at the The Kraft Kabin Skye and enjoying our Autumnal surroundings 🧡

Staying at Strathallan was a highlight of our vacation in Scotland. We are very appreciative of our time with Angela and Derek, having breakfast and talking with them about many topics. They gave valuable advice about Skye and related many stories of their experiences here. The room was outstanding, comfortable and sunny. We would definitely return.
Tips for other travellers
Skye has many things to see- good hikes, the sea all around. We enjoyed driving around to the top of the island. Old Man was too crowded for us but the rest of the island was great, not busy in September. Good restaurants nearby, for example Deli Gasta and Cafe Sia for lunches.

"Fantastic b&b could not fault it one bit, very friendly hosts, room was spacious spotless and the bathroom was lovely, the bath was a huge hit. Breakfast was 10/10 was cooked to order and was the nicest breakfast we have had so far on our holiday. I would 100% recommend the b&b to people".

Our spotlight business this week is Misty Isle Boat Trips A family run business, whose boats run out of Elgol, including the infamous trip to Loch Coruisk. This week's spotlight business is my friend along the road here in Breakish. Wee Toaty Things, unique handmade crafts and jewellery
is beautiful jewellery handmade by Lori. All her beads are made from re-cycled materials, maps, magazines etc I don't know where she finds the patience. Have a wee look at her page. ❤️

Well the 2023 season is well and truly started and it's shaping up to be a busy year. Our spotlight this week is another self-catering business but with a difference. Pop over and have alook at Janet's shepherd huts, they are absolutely gorgeous and beautifully presented, you'll get to meet Gibert and George the donkeys too. Situated also in a beautiful spot with fabulous views.

Just a few hundred metres from Loch Eishort, Bothan Buidheag is a stunning place to rest and relax with views that stretch over rolling hills and the glittering sea

This week's local business spotlight is Amy's Place Tea Room & Gifts which is based in Torrin on the road to Elgol. We always recommend a stop off here to our guests and visitors who are heading out to Elgol and try and stop in ourselves when we can (which unfortunately isn't often enough!) Alison and Mark have an amazing range of gifts, local stock, the most amazing cakes and much, much more! You're not only sure to get a warm welcome but a lovely hot bowl of soup and one of Alisons legendary cheese scones 😋 It's also got to be the cafe with the best views on Skye. Well it's been a very changeable day in Breakish today. We woke to a few inches of the white stuff and it's been snowing on and off ever since. We don't often get much on our level as we are so close to the sea but it's always beautiful to see (as long as you don't need to go anywhere 😅)

Oh we do love a love story. Nick and Lucy love Skye and decided to renew their vows in their favourite place on their 10th wedding anniversary. Thankfully the showery weather and horizontal winds didn't put a dampener on their day. We were more than happy to celebrate their special day with some bubbles and a slice of cake from Creatures of Habit Cakery. I gave Lucy one of my Isle of Skye tartan corsages as a gift which tied in with her beautiful flowers which she hand tied herself with flowers from Loch Duich Plants We wish them all the best for the future ❤️
