A nice surprise to find such a substantial covering of snow on the Lake District fells today, 🏔️ Binsey 447 metres 🤍🩵

One of the most visited and photographed locations in Keswick, Castlerigg Stone Circle is among the earliest British circles being raised around 3000 BC.

With dramatic panoramic mountain views it‘s definitely worth putting on your to do list on a visit to the Lake District National Park.

There is limited parking at the site but can also be reached on a very pleasant 30 minute walk from Keswick centre.

Saved this walk for a warm summers day to enjoy the amazing views to the max!! 🫶🏼

3 hrs 30 mins walking time but a 6 hour outing in total from Martindale Head.
So much to look at in every direction on this 8 mile round & we were fortunate enough to spot a herd of deer grazing in the valley below. 🦌

4 Wainwright’s on this route with opportunities to add others if you have the time and energy! ⛰

Great hike with superb views of the Northern Fells & beyond.
Some short steep sections in places but plenty of level walking on the tops to appreciate the views.

High Tove & Armboth Fell

Heading out from the shores of Thirlmere this 3.5 mile circular route starts with a steady but not difficult climb over a grassy then rocky path before opening out onto open fell, waterproof footwear essential! 💦
Exposed and windy on the tops so not one for picnicking at the summit but worth it for 360 mountain views.

Sunbeams over Keswick & Derwentwater from Lonscale Fell.

6 mile circular route heading out along the Glenderaterra River valley towards Skiddaw House (a section of the Cumbria Way) & returning via the main Skiddaw path.

Fantastic hike delivering great views in all directions. Easy paths in the main with a short steep grassy ascent towards Lonscale summit and care needed on final section of the descent on Skiddaw path.
2 hrs 30 walking time with extra for snack stops & views.
Plenty of options for linking up with other routes too.
Can see this becoming a firm favourite. 🥾🥾
