After bidding farewell to our lovely guests, it's all hands on deck for our changeover days! Here's a sneak peek into what goes on behind the scenes:

First up, it's bed-stripping time! We whisk away the used towels and linens, pop them in the wash, and get those machines humming. Then it's a thorough vacuuming session to ensure every nook and cranny is s***k and span.

Next, we roll up our sleeves for the nitty-gritty stuff – cleaning and polishing surfaces, sparkling up the bathrooms and tackling the not-so-glamorous task of toilet duty (someone's got to do it!).

But we don't stop there! Our kitchen gets a top-to-bottom scrub, ensuring every plate, pot, and pan is gleaming. And of course, we double-check those smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to keep everyone safe and sound.

But wait, there's more! Our changeover days aren't just about the interiors. We give the exteriors some TLC too, windows are cleaned, the grass gets a haircut (weather permitting, of course!) and then we’re ready to welcome guests back to a picture-perfect setting.

So next time you wave goodbye to your cosy retreat, rest assured that we're busy bees making everything just right for the next lucky guests.

Are you a diesel & steam enthusiast, or are you curious and would just like to see what all the fuss is about?
Well, today you can find out. The East Somerset Railway offers a glimpse back into the past with its characterful steam engines, carriages, and heritage diesel trains.
Your day rover ticket allows you to ride one or all of the heritage diesel services and Steam Trains.
Why not pop up to the signal box and have a go at pulling the levers? You can visit the vast workshop, where you will see engines that are being lovingly repaired and restored. There's even a miniature railway.

Ever wanted to know what it was like to be a Viking, or have a go at archery?
Well you can do both at the Bishop's Palace in Wells next Saturday, 27th at their Vikings & Archery Day.
Draca Beordor Viking Age Re-enactment, an acclaimed living history and combat display group rooted in Somerset, excels in bringing the 9th and 10th Centuries to life. Witness their skilled living history team demonstrating forgotten crafts of the Viking Age, from linen making and cloth dyeing to silver-smithing and carpentry. Meanwhile, their formidable warriors astound with displays of Viking combat skills and weaponry, illustrating why the Vikings were feared across the world.

Wells City Archers will also be shooting their arrows into targets within the grounds of The Bishop’s Palace all day. Alongside the Wells City Archers will be Indigo Archery, who will be running ‘Have a Go’ sessions where you can try your hand at archery.

This weekend gives you a choice of where to get your Cider and entertainment!

Both Somerset Cider Brandy's Cider Bus Saturday and Harry's Cider Company's Cider Saturday for July take place this weekend.

Cider Bus Saturday at Burrow Hill Cider Farm, 10am - 5 pm.

Relax in their orchards with live Music by The Kings of Lounge. Guest chef this week is Scott from NomNom Pizza. Enjoy their wood fired pizza in the ancient orchards with drinks from The Cider Bus.
