For anyone that has stayed in Swallows Rest will sense it’s a home for family and friends.
Why did i run 6k in the pouring rain before work this morning ? Easy i’m
lucky i can and want to raise money for a charity that helps those when they need support.
The big C has affected most people life’s directly or in directly. Two of my grandparents, both of my parents, my aunt and uncle, my father-in law, my brother-in-law and my sister-in-law and some of my close friends have all battled it, some have won, sadly some did not.
MacMillan were there on the end of the phone when we needed them.
So i am walking 26 miles on the 31/8 to keep my friend company who is recovering from her cancer op, she is inspirational, given how sore she is her training has put me to shame so i’m on it.

it the simple things that can save a life!

Last year we saw a rise in turtle stranding during the Winter months. As the temperatures start to drop it's important we keep an eye out 🐢

If you do find a turtle, do not put it back into the sea! They aren’t adapted to survive our Winter temperatures. Instead, report it to us as soon as possible, so we can recover the turtle and get it to a specialist facility where it can be treated

In the meantime, wrap the turtle in a damp towel and set it on its belly somewhere safe and sheltered. Raise its back end slightly to allow any water to drain from its lungs

Strawberry time!!!

What a perfect family day out and there are two different strawberry farms near us, with the added bonus that in Cornwall it has to be strawberries and Clotted cream!!!!

Now all know you should get your strawberries weighed and then eat them but sometimes you just can’t wait!

Trebarwith Strand, our local beach and one of Cornwall's hidden gems.

Literally hidden under the sea for most of the month but on a spring tide (caused by the pull of a full or new moon) suddenly a stunning beach appears.

Luckily enough to have walked there today from Tintagel for a dip, and then on towards Port Isaac.

However you approach it (you can drive there too) it is always lovely and there’s a pub! where you can sit and watch some of the best 🌅

No surprise it’s our favourite beach.
Did we mention dogs allowed and of their leads!

Really important as we welcome dogs too!

Our last few summer weeks have been reduced, 7th July, 18th August, 8th September, treat yourselves to some vitamin sea!

Were we chuffed to see these choughs or Palores, their cornish name, on the coast path.

The last Chough in Cornwall died in 1973 after flying solo for 6 years. For the next 28 years the only place to find a Cornish Chough was on the coat of arms.

The natural return to Cornwall of the Choughs started in 2001, , and formed the Cornwall Chough project and their numbers are increasing.

Thanks to the RSPB for their information on this stunning bird.

Do you need time out to stop and smell the roses? 🌹

Or in our case the gorse!

The sweet smell of coconut from the gorse peaks on the coast path between now and the end of May. Combine this with watching waves, hearing the skylark, feeling the wind and hopefully sun on your skin, tasting the sea air on your lips and it's a full sensory experience, no spa needed.

We are just over 10 miles from the coast path making us a good base from which to explore.

Bring friends/family with you for good company around the fire after your day out and make it the perfect break.

You can bring the dogs too. 🐾

So exciting that our first social post is about guests very special to us, all of our guests are special of course but these guests travel 6000 miles to get here! The swallows make a very risky journey to come back but they have returned. We are honoured to have a barn they call home.
