May is the absolute best time to visit Cornwall. When the pubs, restaurants & shops are open but the beaches and car parks are empty. When the sun is warm, the ice cream is cold and the flowers are in their full glory. We have availability this month in Kylden, Caradow & the Shepherds Hut 😀🌞

This past year I have been walking the 630 miles of the South West Coast Path from Minehead to Poole. I have one walk to go!
I am raising money for the Refugee Council. Anything you can spare would be hugely appreciated. I have £350 left before I reach my target of £2000!

Westward Ho! to Bideford

A flat & leisurely little walk to finish off the week. Not entirely sure it can be classed as a ‘coastal path’ walk, as only really the first section was on the coast. The rest took me across car parks, a golf course, through the quaint little town of Appledore, through an industrial estate, down a VERY dodgy footpath, along the estuary, through a housing estate & across another car park to finish.
Still, it had some memorable moments, most notably the glorious stretch of beach & dunes at Westwood Ho! and the pub I found in Appledore that I would have happily spent a few days in. The huge cup of tea at Costa at the end wasn’t bad either 😀

Tricky start, presented with the ridiculous steps at Tintagel castle whilst juggling a face time call with a lovely friend, a constantly pooing dog, gusty winds & a coffee…(who drinks a coffee on a coastal walk?🤪🙈)
Found my stride & managed to complete the section in record time, whilst not being blown off the path too many times (fortunately it was an onshore wind or I’d have been in the sea…) I think I counted 11 ‘down & ups’ today, which was hard going, although my new boots & Alan Partridge on the podcast got me through. Made it home in time for a shower before teaching recorder club (the ultimate antithesis to my peaceful day 😂😂)

We open again today, after a very busy 2 week facelift marathon. A new bedroom look for Kylden, plus some gorgeous new kitchen furniture (which previous guests will be pleased to know has plenty of room to get your legs under the table! Thank you for the beautiful shelf and for the kitchen furniture. We are Christmas ready 😀
