Here’s a little more about Christmas in Lee. The event will be held over the 26th & 27th November and we are wrapping the theme around ‘A Victorian Christmas’ as our village has many Victorian properties in the High Street & Pier Street; we’re also hoping that the children of Lee will bring lanterns as they do in other areas of the Borough.

More details to be released soon.

Please take a moment to read the below from the RYA.

Emily’s Code aims to prevent accidents at sea by highlighting key safety messages and leaves a legacy in memory of 14-year old Emily Gardner.

On 2nd May 2015, Emily drowned in a boating accident due to an ill-fitting buoyancy aid snagging on the cleat of a capsized speedboat. Emily’s Code Highlights some of the hazards that contributed to Emily’s accident.

Emily’s parents launched the Code with the support of the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), HM Coastguard, British Water Ski and Wakeboard and the RNLI to raise awareness for small boat owners and users.

Emily’s parents Clive and Debbie Gardner said: “Many parents like us have no awareness of recreational boating safety guidelines and have never used a boat before. When Emily went on a day trip with her friends, we were reassured that safety was paramount and that the equipment was top notch.

“If just one family sees this and takes action to protect their children on the water, then Emily’s Code will have succeeded and Emily’s name will live on. Something as easy as checking that your lifejacket or buoyancy aid fits properly can save your life. So be smart and follow Emily’s Code.”

Seems to be a connection with these two men, dog thefts, and attempted attacks on women in the local area. Please be aware and contact the police with any information.

Can you help? We are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with information, after an attempted robbery in Gosport

At some time between 1pm and 2.30pm on Thursday, 29 July the victim was walking a dog along the alley way behind Sedgley Grove.

A van pulled up alongside him, which had entered the alleyway from Chantry Road. Two men jumped out of the rear of the vehicle. One of the men then pointed a knife at the victim, making threats and demanding he hand the dog over.

The victim took one of the two dog leads off the dog, and began swinging it around at the men until it hit the one with the knife, making him drop the knife.

The other man then picked up the knife and they both ran back to the van empty handed, which sped off in the direction of Rydal Road.

The man with the knife is described as: Asian, aged 25 to 35, with short dark hair and wearing dark coloured tracksuit.

The other man is described as: Asian, with short dark hair, wearing a dark coloured tracksuit and Adidas trainers.

The driver of the van is described as being Asian.

The van was described as a new style white transit.

Anyone with information about this incident should call police on 101 quoting 44210301067.

We are appealing for witnesses after a number of antiques, jewellery and cash was stolen from a property in Lee-on-Solent.

The homeowner, a woman in her 80s, was woken by a noise at around 6.30am on Sunday 18 July and soon realised items had been taken from her home on Raynes Road.

They were removed from all parts of her house – including the bedroom she was sleeping in – between the hours of 11pm on Saturday 17 July and the following morning.

The items included a silvered 1920s pewter platter, which is 12-inches long and cast into the shape of a pond with a frog and fish on top.

A Longines men’s gold watch, purchased new in the 1970s, and an Omega ‘Seamaster’ women’s watch, bought 25 years ago, were also stolen.

The Omega watch is silver in colour and has a stainless steel bracelet. The numbers on the face are golden in colour.

Meanwhile, a Gondolo fob watch, made of white gold marcasite with a blue sapphire set into the winder, is also missing.

The last item taken from her home was a broach in the shape of a monkey hanging from a branch, which is encrusted in diamond.

As well as the antiques and jewellery, £100 in cash was also stolen from the property.

It is believed the suspect gained entry via an insecure rear conservatory door, which was accessed from an unlocked side gate to her garden.

PC Kirsty Watts said: “A number of much-loved and precious antique items have been stolen from this elderly woman’s home and we are doing everything we can to trace them.

“Do you recognise any of the items listed in this appeal? Have you seen anything matching their description for sale online?

“The items were taken between 11pm on Saturday 17 July and 6.30am on Sunday 18 July. Did you see anything suspicious on Raynes Road during these hours?

“Have you got any CCTV footage or information you are able to share?

“We believe the suspect gained access to the property via an insecure rear conservatory door. We would like to remind locals to ensure all doors are locked and to report any suspicious behaviour.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting the reference number 44210283486.
