Some of our Spithurst Hub co-workers were finally able to enjoy the Hub Community Lunch in the garden today! Hopefully this is the beginning of some warmer weather with sunshine and blue skies. We’ve also finally been able to do some sowing in our kitchen garden. We love making use of our homegrown vegetables and edible flowers when providing food for our co-workers and meeting room users as well as for our Pop Up Hubbery Cafe guests of course (next cafe is on 15th and 16th June by the way and we’re already taking bookings). A lovely day of multi tasking; baking lots of buns for The Village Shop - Barcombe, foraging for nettles and yarrow in order to build up stock of our spring quiches plus lots of admin and planning and tidying in between … the foraging is definitely one of my favourite parts of running our Spring Pop Up Hubbery Cafe this coming weekend (6th and 7th April, 10.00-16.00) plus welcoming back all our guests and getting the lovely Hubbery Team back together again of course!! Save the date for our next Pop Up Hubbery Cafe at Spithurst Hub and wow, we sold out of all our frozen buns much more quickly than expected! Thank you The Village Shop - Barcombe for stocking them and many thanks to everyone who bought some. We’re baking again on Friday 15th March and you can place your order for freshly baked buns here https://the-hubbery-spithursthub.square.site/ by midday on Thursday 14th and collect from Spithurst Hub on Friday 15th in the afternoon. We will re-stock Barcombe Village Shop with frozen ones on Saturday 16th March. Did you know that our homemade Swedish Hubbery buns are now available to purchase frozen from Barcombe Village Shop? Just delivered the first few batches to the lovely Jess. They're a delicious treat warmed up at home. The next opportunity to order freshly baked ones from The Hubbery Bakery will be 15th March. Another way to enjoy our Hubbery food and baked goods is to book our meeting venue, The Rosehip Room, at Spithurst Hub. It’s a great space for team away days, board meetings, workshops, training days or for family gatherings and we love treating our guests to great homecooked food, bread and cakes. Just a quick reminder of our Soup and Semla Pop Up Hubbery Cafe on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th February, 10.00-16.00. There are still a few undercover lunch tables available to book in our garden so get in touch on [email protected] to avoid disappointment on the day. We’re planning on serving up four different types of warming soups served with homemade bread and we hope you’re up for trying our seasonal Swedish speciality on offer this weekend only! A semla is a plain cardamom bun filled with homemade almond paste and topped with whipped cream and a lid with a dusting of icing sugar. If you can’t make it this weekend we will also be baking to order on Friday 9th and 16th February, just place your Hubbery Bakery order by midday on Thursday via this link https://the-hubbery-spithursthub.square.site/ and pick up on Friday afternoon. Save the date for our Soup and Semla Pop Up Hubbery Cafe on 10th and 11th February, 10.00-16.00. We tested the soup and semla “concept” today on our co-workers at Spithurst Hub and I think it’s safe to say it went down very well. Semlor are traditionally eaten all over Sweden this time of year so if you’re keen to try them get in touch on [email protected] to book a table at our next Pop Up Hubbery Cafe. All our seating is outdoors in our garden and we have a limited number of undercover tables which tend to get booked up pretty quickly. As well as a selection of soups, homemade bread and semlor we will of course be baking our cinnamon, cardamom and vanilla buns as well. If you can’t wait until then, we bake most Fridays, just place your order before midday on Thursday and pick up your freshly baked goods on Friday afternoon! Well, that was a fun and full on weekend for the The Hubbery Cafe team at Spithurst Hub! A big warm thank you to everyone who came along to our outdoor winter cafe and huge thanks to all the brilliant young people working alongside us again. It was lovely to welcome you all back, guests and colleagues. The next Hubbery Pop Up Cafe weekend will be in the spring and The Hubbery Bakery Fridays will now be on hold for the next few weeks. Wow, what a weekend! It was simply lovely running a pop up Hubbery Cafe again at Spithurst HUB with this brilliant bunch of fun and hard working young people! We were so busy these are the only photos taken. A big warm thank you to everyone working and to everyone who popped along for lunch and fika and art at Artwave Festival 😊 The Hubbery Bakery will be open on Fridays from 15th September, but first Into The Trees this weekend!

Our next family adventure is just 2 months away. Into The Trees 2023 invites you to join us in the Ashdown Forest to camp out under dark starry skies and enjoy this beautiful wild playground. NEW - HUBBERY ONLINE SHOP https://the-hubbery-spithursthub.square.site/ The Hubbery is changing! Whilst we had hoped to open up our outdoor cafe again this spring, we have, after much deliberation, come to the conclusion that our weekly Hubbery Cafe will be put on hold for the foreseeable future. This has not been an easy decision, but a combination of different factors have led to this outcome. Many thanks to all our lovely guests who have supported this venture over the past two and a half years and many thanks to all the amazing young people who have worked with us and who have helped us create The Hubbery Cafe! It has been a pleasure to share so many lovely fika moments with you all … We will still be baking our Swedish cinnamon, cardamom and vanilla buns weekly though, just place your order via our Hubbery Online Shop (link above) before midday on Thursdays and pick up your freshly baked buns on Fridays any time between 13.00 and 17.30. We're now taking orders for Good Friday. Minimum order is four buns. The cost is £3.00 per bun. They are suitable for freezing on the day of purchase so you can stock up and then simply warm them up in your oven at home as and when you wish. Going forward we plan to add other Hubbery produce as well. Our Hubbery food and fika will of course still be available to anyone booking our Spithurst Hub meeting space, The Rosehip Room, and we plan to organise some ticketed pop up Hubbery Events every now and then.
