Happy birthday to the most amazing positive gundog trainer and dog-friendliest holiday cottage host! From all your guests, clients and doggies 🐾
Hit like if your dog would love to explore these fields...
Great to enjoy the pond for my training guests for the first time. They are here staying in the caravans and enjoying some training with me and on their own, plus visiting the great dog friendly walks in the area.
The pond is such a great addition to my Gundog training ground. It was the only thing I was missing.
We now have the following:
Pond
Variety of jumps including a pen
Rough wood
Open wood
Undulating fields
Cover crop
Ditches
Gateways
Long grass
Reed grass
Mown strips
Don’t forget if you are a trainer you can hire out the whole place for your own group. Get in touch if you are interested.

Puppies just before they fell asleep. So cute 🥰
What a great last day of our training holiday. We had a lovely evening out last night together then today we had some fun with launchers and cold game.
This is Sam and Stanley making an amazing job of this runner exercise. I trailed a bird (cold game) from the gate along the fence then up the field. Teaching the handlers to recognise when their dog is on a wounded bird that’s moved and also giving dogs the experience.
Think today is the day to meet Gracie’s puppies!
We have our neighbours sheep grazing our fields for a few weeks. Decided it’s the perfect opportunity to do some sheep training with my spaniel Loki. This ram didn’t move away when we got close which was great for our training 😊.
We have a week free in the cottage from tomorrow Thursday 13th to Thursday 20th January.
Why not book a few days and work on training your dog to ignore sheep. Happy to do some 1:1 training sessions on this topic. We have 1 field without sheep still so plenty of off lead running for them too or head to the other lovely walks locally. Spoilt for choice in this area.
Cold start but after climbing this hill I am nice and warm now.
Just 5 mins from my house, Penrhylin drive which you can see from my fields.
Working my dogs is what I do on my day off 😊
After a lot of rain it’s going to be sunny and dry today. Looking forward to another day teaching a small private group of trainers from the south of England wanting to learn more about teaching gundog skills to their pet dog owners using positive reinforcement.
If you are a trainer and want to improve your knowledge, understanding of gundogs and the skills required to train
them to use the instincts that they were born with but in a partnership, get in contact.
In case you thought it’s only worth visiting in Summer, look how lovely it is in early Autumn.
Had lots of rain in the last couple of days. At least my pond is filling nicely and the stream running fast. Always lovely hearing running water on my walks.
Astrid is back at Coedygaer Fawr with her students for more scent detection.
If you are a trainer and want to bring a group here for gundog, mantrailling, scent detection or any other sport get in touch. We have 15 acres of varied ground, lots of barns and outbuildings and accommodation for 10 on site!

Enjoying the sunshine at the end of the holiday.
We now have access to my rough wood as paths have been cut through. 1 all the way round and 1 through the middle.
It is now a lovely experience walking the dogs or working them in here as I am not getting caught up in brambles or tripping over so much 🤣. Plenty of wildlife too.
Also note my spaniel is close! This is where the game birds like to live and used to be a very exciting place as he charges through flushing all the pheasants. They are not quite here yet this season so enjoying the woods before I lose control of Loki 🤣.
With the recent hot weather here it has been so valuable to have 2 woods to work the dogs in whilst staying cool.
One of our guests making use of the gundog training we offer here. We did a 1:1 working on steadiness to the bolting rabbit which she nailed! Plus an introduction to cold game and some retrieving in our jumping pen.
Availability later in the year if you fancy a break at this relaxing and tranquil place with or without training. Autumn colours are pretty spectacular here 😊.
Susie teaching Skye the over cue.
A great 2nd beginner gundog holiday here in Wales. It was very hot which would have meant cancelling if it wasn’t a beginner as running dogs on distance retrieves would have been impossible. But we had a cool barn and the cool woods to work on gundog basics.
We started the days early and got out to introduce the beginner dogs to some jumping before it got hot.
Lots of learning and confidence building for both the handler and their dogs.
We even managed to fit in two grade 1 gundog club assessments whilst they were on their holiday. Sam Radford and Gizmo achieve a merit and Jackie Todd and Ava only dropped 3 points and got a distinction.
