Today is Appreciate a Dragon Day or as we say Diwrnod Gwerthfawrogi Draig.
A celebration of the enchanting world of literary and cultural dragons, creatures that have roared in our imaginations throughout the ages.
From ancient legends of Lludd and Llefelys from the Mabinogion to modern tales of Puff and Toothless, these majestic beings symbolise mythical splendour and embody the essence of fantastical realms.
In Wales, our celebration could be scaled up a little with the iconic Draig Goch, the magnificent red dragon that has become an emblem of our rich heritage and cultural identity. 🏴
The Draig Goch symbolises the spirit of Wales, and breathes fire into the stories that connect us to our past, present, and future.
To celebrate these creatures today, Let us delve into the tales of bravery, magic, and wonder that dragons inspire.
Visit (or plan to visit) the magical Radnor Forest where the last Dragon of Wales sleeps, or re-read your favourite poem or story featuring Draig.
So, here's to the Draig Goch and all the literary dragons that have left their indelible mark on our cultural tapestry.
May they continue to inspire creativity, ignite passions, and remind us of the enduring power of Welsh storytelling.
Now as we all know, Dragons speak Dragonese, so, here is a little Dragonese taken from https://howtotrainyourdragon.fandom.com/wiki/Dragonese just in case you happen upon a dragon or two today and you need to have a chat …
* Farin okey? - How do you do?
* Pishyou keendlee gobba oot mi freeundlee? - Please would you be so kind as to spit my friend out?
* Pishyou na munch-munch di miaow-miaow. - Please do not eat the cat.
