Lisglass Cottage takes pride in designing and creating stylish floral art and seasonal decor to comp

A qualified floral art designer/florist, I am a graduate of Kay's School of Floristry, Dublin and a pupil of Carmel Burns, Londonderry, with whom I have studied floral art for nearly five years. I enjoy wedding floristry as well as creating bespoke piece for events, birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions. In addition, I have over 30 year's experience of creative art and design, undertaking

projects large and small for schools, churches and community groups and making props, set design and construction, and costume making for the dramatic arts.

A useful tale for those who complain about paying you for your services…

A giant ship's engine broke down and no one could repair it, so they hired a Mechanical Engineer with over 30 years of experience.

He inspected the engine very carefully, from top to bottom. After seeing everything, the engineer unloaded his bag and pulled out a small hammer.

He knocked something gently. Soon, the engine came to life again. The engine has been fixed!

A week later the engineer mentioned to the ship owner that the total cost of repairing the giant ship was $20,000.

"What?!" said the owner.

"You did almost nothing. Give us a detailed bill."

The importance of appreciating one's expertise and experience...because those are the results of struggles, experiments and even tears.

If I do a job in 30 minutes it's because I spent 20 years learning how to do that in 30 minutes. You owe me for the years, not the minutes.

Silk grave set

Grave Arrangement

Long green/white grave arrangement with chrysanthemum and lily on a bed of pitto, griselinia and lilandia.

Funeral flowers using Penny Lane Roses, germini, chrysanthemum and dianthus on a bed of cupress, griselinia and solidago.

Just finished work on a 4.5ft traditional wreath soray arrangement using lily, hydrangea, eustoma, Germini, alstroemerias and chrysanthemums on a base of fine tuscus, waxflower and wild ivy, on a 3-brick tray.

I went for a cottage garden feel in this heart-shaped floral tribute arrangement, with chrysanthemum buds bouncing out over the top of the larger flowers. Finished with diamanté pins and a burgundy organza ribbon

The black tree... just couldn't decide on which one, so I thought - why not both!

Christmas at Lisglass Cottage

I just adore making bespoke table centres... prices start from £10 for basic 'robin' and 'snowman' table centres. The bespoke, colour co-ordinated ones are a little more expensive, but they are sooo pretty! PM me if you'd like to book one.

Can't believe that I'm already working on all things Christmas... If you need a table centre or colour co-ordinated Christmas log give me a ring x

Just found this Wee video of a pink arrangement I did for a friend who wanted to surprise her daughter after making her stage debut as a ballerina. Don't you just love mummies to bits?

I'm in a real 'peacock mood' this year! I've seen some lovely things on Pinterest and in some of the design magazines, so I thought I'd try creating my own take on a modern Christmas wreath some of those lovely greens, blues and teals. I'm rather pleased with the results and I hope you like the little slideshow I've done - with the help of Annzie of course!
