Yup, quite probably the hottest day of the year.

Yup, we’ll be there, in our usual spot outside the community centre in Lostwithiel tonight from 5.30 - 7.30pm, cooking woodfired pizza to order.

Yup, we will be quite warm 🥵😎

So, if you want to feel delightfully cool then come and feel quietly smug that it’s one of us not you standing in front of the 450 degree fire 🔥🥵🥴😂

Lostwithiel is looking lovely in the sunshine, dressed for the Jubilee. 🌞👑🇬🇧
It was great to see the high-street so busy today!

The first of a series of posts about the musicians who will be at the Lostwithiel Gin Festival on Saturday 25th June. Entry is free, no tickets needed! Just turn up and be prepared to buy some gin. The event starts at 11am and finishes at 9pm, we recommend you come by train if you aren’t local.

Performing twice during the afternoon (3pm - 3.30pm and 3.45pm - 4.15pm) are HORSE AND HEDGES.

New to the Lostwithiel Gin Festival scene sees this renowned Blues Duo of Jeff Horsey and Gareth Hedges having been mentioned and played on BBC Radio 2 by none other than Paul Jones. They play authentic Blues and some Rock standards and not without a little well-chosen and knowledgeable banter.

Jeff has played the blues for forty years, taking time out to tour and play festivals and gigs all over Europe and the USA. He busked on Beale Street in Memphis, played dates in Europe, Louisiana, Australia and has supported and played with, artists as diverse as Robert Plant, Peter Green, Geno Washington and Screaming Lord Sutch! Now he's back with old friend Gareth Hedges resuming a partnership they started over 25 years ago.

Gareth plays a Martin acoustic guitar and sings in an authentic lived-in voice, equally at home with Blues, Jazz or Bluegrass. In the 1970's he travelled the southern states of the USA , from the Mississippi Delta to the Tennessee Hills, absorbing the music of numerous folk and blues musicians. He has spent time with Gary Davis, Son House, Doc Watson and Bill Munroe and still meets up with bluegrass ace Peter Rowan in the States.

"We both enjoy playing solo, but together have a lot more fun, reeling off our big repertoire of songs, on guitars and harmonica with plenty of our trademark harmony vocals and a lot of good humoured banter."

Check them out on Spotify! 🎶

In case you don’t already know, the Lostwithiel Gin Festival is back! The date is Saturday 25th June, 11am - 9pm, and it’s being organised by the Lostwithiel Business Group.

Many of the Cornish gin companies who have come along previously will be returning, plus there will be a few new faces and new gins to try 🍹

If travelling, come by train if you possibly can. GWR are even putting on a few more stops that day especially for us! From the station it’s just a short walk over the ancient bridge to The Parade area in the centre of town 🚂

Great news!

GIANTS ARE GO!

With the news that there will be no new restrictions before New Year, the giants have confirmed they will be returning to the streets of Lostwithiel to celebrate the turning of the year ✨

As ever, this is a community celebration and one and all are invited to come and get involved; join the band, sing the song, wave a lantern, dance with the giants!

There won’t be guided workshops this year but we will have a giant ‘pit stop’ available: if you have an older giant that is in need of a quick fix-up, or you’ve made something BIG and you need somewhere to put it together, you are welcome to join us in the Church Rooms (on Church Lane) from 4pm on the 30th and the 31st.

IMPORTANT REQUEST: it would be greatly appreciated if anyone intending on processing would please consider taking a lateral flow test. This will mean we can all feel as safe as possible. Wearing masks when in close quarters would also be a good idea.

See you there!
