The ground cover roses we planted a few months ago loved the wet July/Aug and are now in their second even better bloom.

We're delighted to be an approved release site for Baddeley Green Hedgehog Rescue. Now the proud hosts to Fruitcake (she lost a back leg to a strimmer), Speedy, Stripe - and this coming Tuesday Juliette will be joining us. Also missing a leg due to another careless strimmer. All are welcome, all get fed each night. We love seeing them on our trailcam.

Very partial to a blousy tulip. Don't need to be a master flower arranger to enjoy their colours. Our guests are getting large vases of them. Lovely!

So many honey bees on our large heather border today now the sun's come out. Loud buzzing fills the air. We can see them coming and going from and to our two local bee keepers. Ran out of time to get our own bees/Warre hives sorted this year, definitely on next year's To Do List.

Our guests enjoyed a fab birthday weekend in the Barn, and our local cake artist JaneZ and Rudyard Flowers perfected the celebration.

Actually went snow shoeing up to the Roaches the other day - huge drifts on our lane. Very pretty when the sun came out. All gone now courtesy the heavy rain.

Ryelands are gradually being named. Baldy (some bare patches due to treatment), Big Bertha, and Tiny for obvious reasons. Lovely and tame thanks to the tlc from their owners.

We've got 7 furry brown tenants. Owned by Carl and Sarah, they are Coloured Ryeland sheep. They'll be eating our grass for a few months, and will be joined by the rest of the flock in due course. Nice!

High Ridge Barn is so rural we drive to our nearest neighbour. In the heart of the Peak District National Park the Barn has spectacular views. Surrounded by large secure gardens surrounded by acres of fields and woods the only living things around us are sheep, wild birds, and our rescue hens. Perfect for large families or groups of friends to enjoy a healthy break away from it all. Why not book your very own luxurious 'escape to the country' for clean fresh air, starry skies, no passing people or cars - and of course very fresh free range eggs! Your pets will be equally welcome here.

The Barn is recently converted to provide 4 double bedrooms, 2 of which that can be arranged as large single beds and is perfect for up to 8 people plus babes-in-arms. The 3 bathrooms mean no queues for the loo! The enormous double-height living/dining room with Scandi log-burner leads directly to the new high-end kitchen equipped with Neff appliances and we've been told by our guests that the Barn is so well equipped that we have things here they didn't know they needed! Everything from 1,000 thread bed linen to fluffy towels and logs down to an oyster shucker, High Ridge Barn has it all. There's even a dog-grooming cabin and a wood-burning private sauna.

Leek is a mere 15-minute drive away and has a vast selection of supermarkets, and award-winning takeaways and deliveries.
