We need some help! Kitty needs volunteers to come and do some general maintenance such as painting, varnishing, and general assistance to get her back up and running again! No experience needed, and we provide tea, coffee and biscuits for everyone. We are based at North Fambridge still, and we really want to start doing some trips during the summer season. Work begins on Friday 14th April, and we plan to be there every Friday and Monday after that date. Please send me a private message on here or call me on 07554 425724 if you think you can help Kitty .

So, we are still in London, with a stripped down engine and not really any further than we were two days ago - apart from a possible bent con rod . I gather by the swearing yesterday - that this isn't a good thing - but Adam the Engineer has taken it home to be checked.

15/09/2014

So the question is, will the piston liner arrive today. Apparently the engine was built in the 1970's and most of the engines of that time had to be bored out because of a problem. Ours wasn't. They no longer make the liner - but one company found a single one on the back of a shelf. It was meant to be delivered on Saturday, via courier. It didn't arrive...

13/09/2014

Engineer is coming back today with piston liners. Wonder what will happen next. We have found a Waitrose and a launderette, so it's a case of wait with fingers crossed.

10/09/2014

Engine has broken piston and liner. Not going anywhere for the next couple of days....

What goes on with engines, bilges and maintenance to keep Kitty going...

All set for the Mersea Regatta this weekend. We are the committee boat , so we should get to see lots going on around us. Sailing Barge Kitty was at the regatta in either 1949 or 1951, and we have some photographs of her Skipper at the time, Ebenezer Shrubshall to display. Thank you to the Mersea museum for allowing me to use them :-)

This is nice.....

Dear Sirs

On Monday 28th July my partner and I went on your lunch cruise on your Barge Kitty.

I am writing to let you know that it was the most enjoyable afternoon we have spent in a long time.

The crew were excellent. The catering was first class.

We throughly enjoyed ourselves and next time we are going to book the afternoon tea cruise.

Please pass on my compliments to the crew and once again thank you for a wonderful time.

Best regards.

Sarah Clark
