During your stay at Upper Vobster Farm, an excursion to visit and take a journey on the East Somerset Railway is a must!

🚙 About a 20 minute drive south from your stay at Upper Vobster Farm you'll arrive in Cranmore, Somerset. It's here, where you can board one of the East Somerset Railway heritage steam trains and take a journey through the beautiful Mendip Hills.

As well as your train ride, you can explore their museum and visit the workshop to see their work on restorations, which is super fascinating. They also offer onboard dining experiences, so you can enjoy afternoon tea during your journey. We recommend you visit their website for more information on this.

Did you know that Lavender Cottage and Rosemary Cottage are just perfect for such a group?

As with all our cottages, these side by side terrace homes are both fully self-contained with a kitchen, laundry and bathrooms. Lavender houses 6 people while Rosemary houses 4. 🛌 🛌

🗺 🚙 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Today we’re taking a short drive south east….to Nunney Castle.

The medieval castle ruins of Nunney Castle are an interesting exploration for the whole family (and they allow dogs on leashes too) 🐕.

The origins of this castle date back to the 1370s. Today, the spectacular moat that tightly surrounds the castle is filled and definitely something to see 🤩. This place is an absolute delight to visit and we recommend taking a stroll through the village of Nunney afterwards

🚗 Let's head south/east to the famous gardens at Stourhead ⛲️🌳🌷

From your stay here at Upper Vobster Farm, a 25 minute drive through the Somerset countryside and into Wiltshire will bring you to Stourhead National Trust. We love this place for it's incredible and lush gardens through which you can follow a circuit path to explore the entire property and it's landmarks. It's the perfect outing for just yourself, you and a companion, or a group, including children who will love exploring the magical gardens. They are also hosting EASTER EGG HUNTS between 9 and 24 April, so it's the perfect time to take the family 🐣🐰. They also welcome you to bring your dog (check out their website for guidelines on this). So really, it's an all-round perfect family day trip destination. 🧺 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 🦮

This building, along with Somerset Soul as well as the main house where Tricia & Michael reside, is one of the oldest on the property and originally part of, you guessed it, the dairy 🐄🥛. Today the old stone cottage has been renovated as a quaint holiday stay for two 👫.

We highly recommend picking a day during your visit with us to head to Longleat and explore the day away. It's incredible fun for the entire family. And, from tomorrow they will be opening up their doors every day, as we all say farewell to another off-peak season. 👋✌️

"One of the best parts of running self-catering accomodation at Upper Vobster Farm is the community we are apart of" - hosts, Tricia & Michael.

There is always the chance of unforeseen circumstances occurring or last minute changes that affect guests, the community of neighbouring hotels and self catering cottages is one that has continued to offer each other support. Should a guest need to be offered alternative accomodation due to flooding, fires, power loss, or whatever event it may be, we are there to support each other, and that is something to deeply appreciate.
