We’ve had a new arrival!
Baby boy born Weds18th November approx 9.30pm .
I was in bed and heard mum mooing - but not the ordinarly sounding moo!
Brock and I went out in the dark with a torch and there he was, newly born in the grass - a healthy boy.
This pic is of him a week old with his mum and big brother (not dad!)
They're a happy family and live with aunty too.
Ordinarily calves are removed from their mum's at about 12 hours, debudded (an injection to stop horns growing) and then weaned on synthetic milk. Horrid. None of that here - they'll live together as a family and we might even try milking mum in a couple of months!
All we need now is a name for our new boy.
Any suggestions ???

Filled with trees from all over the world the autumn orange and red colours are truly magical and during December you can go on an illuminated trail on a quest to find the West Pole

Due to the new Covid restrictions we’ve had to cancel the November bookings.
Obviously we offer a full refund or an opportunity to book for next year. This applies to any holidays that are booked and need to be cancelled due to future lock downs.
In these uncertain times, I ask everyone to please stay safe and look after yourselves.
Let’s hope this is the last lockdown and we can get back to some sort of normal as soon as possible.

Do you love history?
Holcombe Old Church just a few miles from the Roundhouse & is steeped in local history and definitely worth a visit.
The church is surrounded by beautiful countryside and woodland ( with a beautiful pond)
On the slightly macabre side, it’s also on a burial site from the Plague in 1348 and legend has it , it’s where the nursery rhyme ‘Ring a Ring o’ Roses ‘ began.
Explorer Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s family memorial is located at the rear of the church although he isn’t actually buried there. There is also a grave at the front, designed by his mother, for five children who drowned in a nearby lake.
It is regularly used as a film location, most recently in Poldark
The church is no longer in use but you can pick the keys up from The Holcombe Inn if you’d like to look inside.

When you’re packing for young kids, that’s when you’ve got to get seriously organised but ....

Have you visited Longleat ?
There is lots to see and do for you and the family
The main square has various zones for you to visit from koala creek , jungle kingdom & animal adventure, where you’ll get a chance to handle some of the creatures there.... if you’re brave enough . There is also Adventure Castle where the kids can run wild, and Longleat has one of the biggest hedge mazes in the world & don't forget a trip on the Longleat Railway.
The Safari park has several zones for you to drive through, enabling you to get up close to the wild animals like lions, monkeys & giraffes.
Unfortunately due to Covid Longleat House remains closed. But keep your eye on their website for updates.
Pre booking is essential as numbers are restricted, but whilst you're in the west country, its definitely worth it plus, its less than 30 minutes drive from the Roundhouse.
Look out for seasonal events too. From 7th November to 10th January Longleat hosts the Land of The Light which crosses over 7 zones with lights and illuminations . A winter wonderland of amazing lights and sounds to get you in the mood for Christmas and beyond.
You gotta be quick to bag a deal these days!

Nature.... Isn't it great...😃.
I spotted this little guy🐛 caterpillaring around on a bee🐝 plant amongst our organic kale on the farm.
Life goes on as normal for them... Oblivious to the strange happenings in the human world.
I wonder what sort of butterfly or moth this is going to turn into... Does anyone know..?🦋
If you’ve never visited the Georgian city of Bath you have missed a real treat.
There is loads to see and do you’ll not know where to start.
There is the Roman Baths, an abundance of museums like the Jane Austen Centre, The Fashion Museum, Victoria Art Gallery to mention a few.
Bath Abbey which is right in the centre of Bath where you’ll pass loads of great shops and restaurants on route.
Have a nosey around the Royal Crescent (some of Oliver (Twist) was filmed here) and the Circus (not with elephants and clowns) but a fantastic example of Georgian architecture.
It really is a wonderful city and you won’t be disappointed. One day just won’t be enough.

There’s not much to go on as it’s taken from a deceptive angle.
It’s old & a bit rusty, it’s not used in modern society (well, it might be but I don’t know anyone who uses one? )
I’m sure there were women out there with massive biceps back in the day !

Have you visited Wells?
It's the smallest city in the UK and home to the beautiful 13th Century Wells Cathedral, the moated Bishop's Palace and gardens and Vicar's Close.
Its also home to the Crown Inn where some of Hot Fuzz was filmed.
There is a weekly market on Wednesdays with some great local producers.
An abundance of coffee shops & restaurants so you won't be stuck for refuge if it rains!
It's only a 20 minute drive from the Roundhouse and well worth the visit.
