Almond Beach Village Resorts Fans Page, was set up for all who loved the original Almond Beach Village & to keep you updated should we hear any development news.

We were personally at the hotel on the extremely sad day it closed it doors on 30th April 2012 when all 500 staff and myself cried our way through the day, hugging each other so tight.

The beautiful thing is we all have the fabulous memories and as many of the ex staff say when I meet them these days, that there are no other memories like it. Almond were the best days of our lives 🙏💛🇧🇧

While we still hope and pray one day, something special will become of Almond Beach Village Barbados.

It is always so sad looking back at these photos, however so many of us hold so many treasured memories of this hotel & the staff who became family to many of us.

Having spent the day at Heywoods Beach ( ABV ) yesterday, such an amazing beach now, they have really been at work on the grounds recently compared to a few weeks ago.

Certainly looks like things could be moving forward now & as much as some people do or don’t want Sandals there, at this moment in time I would rather it become something rather than look so sad and derelict.

All the over grown trees have been cut right down and you can see each of the ABV buildings so clearly now.

Main building that looks like it could keep standing is block 7 / St Bernard’s block. Will keep this group updated with developments ( and no I don’t have any info if it is goung to be Sandals we presume it will be and things maybe have been renegotiated all guesses at the moment )

In the mean time who has been up to Heywoods beach recently and had the best fish cutter on island ( so we think ) at caboose 👌🫶💛🇧🇧

Today on our beloved Heywood’s Beach

We have some exciting news coming from the Cruise department!

Tomorrow, Thursday, March 16th, 2023, P&O Cruises will host the official naming ceremony for its newest largest vessel, Arvia, right here in Destination Barbados

The event is set to take place at Heywood’s Beach, and Arvia will be positioned offshore using Dynamic Positioning via satellite. The Godmother for Arvia is the multi-award-winning performer Nicole Scherzinger, and she will officially name the vessel during the ceremony.

In addition, P&O Cruises will use the world’s largest bottle of rum for the traditional bottle smash created by Barbados distillery Mount Gay. A lever will release the specially commissioned bottle, which will hold 15 litres of Mount Gay Black Barrel.

Everyone can join us for the live ceremony and celebration, which will be broadcasted live at 2:50 pm on P&O Cruises YouTube channel inclusive of special performances by Olly Murs and Nicole ending the show.

Hosting the event are two of the UK’s most famous broadcasters and DJs, Sara Cox and Trevor Nelson.
