Did you know that every Monday there is an online live Pilates class that you can do from the comfort of your own home? Lots of people love this option. All you need is some space and your mat and you are ready to go! This means that you can do the class from anywhere as long as you have Wifi 😁

There is also a recording available if you can't make the live class, so you can do it at a time that suits you best.

If you prefer an 'in person' class there are plenty of those too!

I've just looked in my diary and there are only 2 weeks left of this term for our Pilates based movement classes!!!! That went so fast.

I am taking bookings for September now and I have classes running every week day, so get in touch to find out if there is a class and time to suit you.

I am also running Monday Zoom classes in August, so if you would like to try those let me know.

Did you know that you will get a recorded class sent to you if you have to miss a session, so you never need to miss out!

Recent events have reminded me how important it is for you to feel that you have control over your own health and well being.

I whole heartedly believe in body autonomy and the importance of self efficacy (an individual's belief in his or her capacity to execute behaviours necessary to produce specific performance attainments-). In other words, having confidence in your ability and having control over your behavior, motivation and social environment .

There is so much research to show that this is the way forward, in all aspects of health, both mental and physical, including chronic pain, rehabilitation, exercise and self management of chronic disease.

What does this mean for you?

It means that I will provide a movement programme for you which will explore your full movement potential. Improving your strength, mobility, coordination, balance and confidence in your own ability.

These classes are designed to strengthen the whole person what ever level you feel you are at.

In my heart I'm not a gym bunny, although I believe in strength training. So my classes will feel more creative, if that appeals to you then get in touch.

Hello FB, there are a few of you here and I would love to know how I can use this platform to better serve you! Can you let me know what kinds of things you would be interested to see here?

Current clients hear from me through the Newsletter. Some people (but not many people here I think?) follow Instagram. But here on FB it's so quiet!! I would love to know why you are here and what you would like to see more of?

I personally don't enjoy seeing social media just full of adverts, so I would like to offer you something a bit more than that.

If you want to damn a woman with faint praise tell her she’s doing alright for her age!

I teach so many beautiful women who feel they have passed some kind of peak and now they must accept becoming invisible.

Life expectancy for healthy females continues to rise so we really can’t spend such a large proportion of our lives being invisible can we.

The revenue generated by anti ageing products is at an all time high and due to rise.

We don’t need anti-ageing we need anti ageism. Ageing is normal so we can’t be anti that makes no sense!!!!

I teach Pilates to lots of women who want to build strength, mobility, energy, joy and confidence and you won’t get that in a face cream 🧴

AND we're off!! Literally blown (3 storms no less) into the new block of classes which have started this week.

I have a little message for you about my movement ethos if you are interested.

The truth is I have never felt at home under the umbrella of "fitness" although, like you I'm sure, I strive for "wellness" in all areas of my life. I think it's because I have a long standing love of movement and the way it makes me feel, which I think can often be overshadowed by diet culture and asthetics.

The health and fitness world can feel totally overwhelming sometimes. An onslaught of things we should do. A feeling that we should just get our movement sessions over with. A joyless task to be ticked off. A punishing gruelling process to be endured, to justify something delicious you ate 😕 Pressure to drop a dress size or to look like somebody else. Well, it's not like that here.

We are all grown ups and I will treat you with the respect you deserve. We will be moving together. I will give you the ideas and options to create a fun movement session and you will, hopefully, feel empowered to try stuff out and adapt for your body. You will like some things and dislike others and that's OK. I want you to feel that you are in charge of your own body (there is nothing more powerful) and to do that you must feel that you can make choices for yourself. Be inquisitive about what you can do. It's your body, your emotions, your experiences and your beliefs. I cannot tell you what to feel, what you want to be and how you should look. But, I can facilitate the creation of a movement experience for you and we can all share this experience individually yet together in a class.

I love the shared energy in a group class. However I recognise that on some days your energy might be different. I see you and I respect you. I see you as the beautiful individual that you are.

I know that we all have our own goals and I respect that, whatever those goals might be. BUT at the end of our class I hope that we can agree that we have shared an experience of movement that has brought some joy, and you have not just wanted it to be over and done with!

As we find ourselves in that liminal space once again between Christmas and the New Year, you will start to see and hear all the voices telling you to start, get going, set your intentions to be a better healthier version of you! Personally I'm avoiding that narrative. I will have my fingers in my ears and my hands over my eyes as I wade past the boom and bust diet culture, to the safe shores of doing what I love best and the thing that makes me feel better. Moving. I will unfurl my mat and my limbs and gently meet the New Year with the intention of self respect not self deprecation and guilt!

I don’t tend to teach squeezing and holding the Pelvic floor anymore. Your pelvic floor can be trained much more efficiently by…… guess what? MOVEMENT! Most people actually hold a lot of tension in the pelvic floor for many reasons, which still leads to problems including leakage. So looking after yourself physically and emotionally, eating and sleeping well and getting lots of movement daily will help train your pelvic floor. Pilates, movement, life.....

I have been teaching Pilates in and around Sevenoaks since 2000, before that I taught Classical Ballet, Modern Jazz and Tap and before that I was a dancer. I have learnt so much about movement in that time and I continue to learn daily about this fascinating subject.

I have a special interest in good, healthy, functional movement, in much the same way you should aim to eat good, healthy, nutritious food for emotional and physical health.

I am also a Back4Good Practitioner with a special interest in healthy backs, promoting good movement patterns to help clients who are suffering from chronic back pain.

I aim to offer small group classes that flow, promote good healthy movement patterns and better movement health.
