Just been on the BBC Radio Newcastle chatting to Steffen Peddie.

So, to anyone new here... Welcome!

I am currently running the tours on a request only basis (bad back, new job, won't bore you). If you have a date in mind, drop me a message. I need a minimum of 4 full paying adults (£7.50 each) for a tour to go ahead, but I can open it up to the general public to make.up the numbers.

I am in a quandary. I would like to run some tours this month but I need people to actually book and pay to guarantee it goes ahead.

You are more than welcome to pick a day and time for either the Original Tour or the Child-friendly Tour. Just comment or drop me a message.

I need at least 3 full paying adults to make it worthwhile. I can take up to 20 people, 15 makes for a better experience.

I have been thinking long and hard about the best way to do the ghost walk on Halloween 🎃. Honestly, I don't know what to do for the best.

The only way I can think of is if people book in households/bubbles and then those bubbles can keep 2m away from each other and me. This affects how many people I can take on the walk as pavements are narrow and you won't be able to hear me if you spread out.

I am going to have a word with the local council and see what they can recommend and if there are any additional guidelines I have not considered.

In the mean time, let me know if your bubble would like to attend and how many are in that bubble. I will try to offer first come first served but I will have to take into account the size of the group as a whole and the number of bubbles within it.

I have been using Covid-19 lockdown to rewatch some favourite TV - Ripper Street and Whitechapel.

I am no Ripperologist but I do love a good mystery and some gross and gruesome horror and, since I was a child, anything about Jack the Ripper had fed this.

Those of you who have been on the tour will know about the South Shields connection to Jack the Ripper, but many people won't.

I wonder about running a Ripper Walk on the nights of the anniversaries of the murders almost 130 years ago.

I would guide you around South Shields town centre, stopping at similar locations to the Whitechapel scenes. You will hear about the Ripper murders at each location and the connection South Shields has to this world famous mystery that has fascinated so many.

I hope all quarantine restrictions will be long over by August and the summer weather will make for a pleasant stroll.

I anticipate demand will be high for these tours as there are only 4 dates for the 5 canonical murders, but I will include 1 extra 'preview' date in mid-August that has relevance. If you are interested, comment and I will keep a list of names on a first come first served basis.

On Friday we shall be having a special Christmas Ghost Stories evening at The Look Out pub on the Lawe Top. Christmas wouldn't be the same without a good ghost story 👻

Everyone is welcome. It's a lovely community pub with an open fire and a few ghosts of it's own. There will be some local stories and some from further afield, all with a Christmas association.

Thers is no entrance fee, but please make good use of the bar. Those under 18 are respectfully reminded not to have alcohol.

I am pleased to announce that Ghost Walk South Shields will be holding virtual tours in the Look Out on the Lawe Top.

These "tours" will be a video and photographic presentation with all of the stories in the Original Tour plus some tales from other local sites and all the ghostly goings on in the Look Out itself.

We will be starting some time next month but of you would like to check out the pub before then, I heartily recommend the Thursday night quiz and a drink by the open fire 👻

I am going to run one Ghost Walk on Halloween. This will, of course, be followed by optional drinks in a haunted pub on completion of the walk. The children's walk will not be possible this year. 🎃

One stop on our tour has now been completely demolished as part of the town centre regeneration project.

I will miss this beautiful limestone building, but I hope the ghosts live on (you know what I mean) 👻

Just a quick update. I have my voice back after a month of squeaking, but unfortunately the sciatica is making tours impossible at the moment.

If this is going to be a long term issue I shall train up another tour guide so you can start booking tours again 👻
