Very Happy Customers
We have just got back from a brilliant 4 day coach trip to the Edinburgh Tattoo we had Lewis as our driver for the 4 days such a friendly funny chap a touch of the Peter Kays with his banter. The Tattoo was amazing apart for the rain the first hour we were there but it soon stopped and a great night was had by us all. The next day was a bit of sight seeing Gretna Green and The Devils Porridge Factory. The hotel, Cairndale Hotel you couldn't fault lovely rooms even a tv in the bathroom, 4 course evening meal and good selection at breakfast. So thankyou Lewis hope to meet up with you on another coach trip.

The Pressley family were a farming family, working the land at Toothill on the outskirts of Romsey in the early 1900’s. The story of Angela Coaches begins in the 1940's, when Robert Edwin Pressley moved his family to 1 & 2 Oaktree Cottages in Portsmouth Road, Lowford, where he established his fishmongers shop. The Cottages in Portsmouth Road had been acquired with a parcel of land which in later years would become the operating base for Angela Coaches. Eventually Robert’s son, John Edward Pressley, established a taxi and limousine business which operated out of the sweet shop run by his wife, Lilly.
In the early 1950's J.E. Pressley Coaches was formed but the name was short lived, when the arrival of John & Lilly’s fifth child Angela inspired the name change to Angela Coaches in 1953. The business quickly expanded with the purchase of a second-hand 29-seater coach from another local company Princess Coaches, quickly followed by a 33 seater and a 41 seater Bedford coach. 1968 saw two significant milestones for Angela Coaches: firstly there was the acquisition of a brand new 45 seater Bedford VAM vehicle, and then later that year the company took the decision to begin offering short breaks to its customers with the advent of Angela Holidays. Their first excursion was a holiday in Llandudno in North Wales, and due to its success further short breaks were subsequently steadily added.
In 1971 John Edward Pressley sadly passed away, and his Son Michael J. Pressley took the reins ready to steer the company through the years ahead. With the support of his wife Hazel, Michael successfully grew the business through the 70’s, and at its peak the company was carrying over 35,000 passengers per year. In the latter half of the decade a fleet of Man SR820 vehicles was acquired, the purchase of these vehicles enabled the company to begin offering continental coach holidays. In 1976 we were very proud to provide our coaches for Southampton FC for the F.A cup final at Wembley, where they beat Manchester United 1-0. The following year Colin Hearn joined the company, and was brought in to further develop the Angela Holidays brand. Further exciting destinations were added, and as a result of the increase in itineraries the company was then able to publish its first holiday brochure at the end of the decade, a practice which still remains to this day.
The company became limited in 1984, when Colin became a shareholder. Business continued to thrive into the 1980’s, and in 1988 Angela Coaches gained a new recruit in Michael’s son, Robert J. Pressley. The following year saw Michael take more of a back seat role, with Robert stepping forward into a managerial capacity. In 1990 Oaktree House was built on the land in Portsmouth Road, and serves as the headquarters for both Angela Coaches & Angela Holidays. In the mid 90’s Robert Pressley became a director for Angela Coaches, and also Michael’s Daughter, Paula, began working for the company. After initially keeping accounts for both Angela Coaches and Angela Holidays, Paula began working full-time with the holiday side of the business, helping to further expand the portfolio of destinations, and then became managing director of Angela Holidays in 2014.
Fast forward to the present day, and both Robert & Paula are still at the helm of Angela Coaches and Angela Holidays respectively, working with their teams of experienced and dedicated staff they continue to flourish in the present day. Angela Coaches now boast a fleet of luxury vehicles including the flagship Starliner coach, with another new addition due this year. Angela Holidays offer an exceptional range of holiday destinations across the UK and in Europe, including river cruises, day trips, seasonal breaks and much more. Both companies use a variety of digital platforms to interact with their customers, including social media, real-time messaging and more. One thing is certain – our customers will continue to receive the same excellent service that we’ve always been proud to offer!
