Wealden Times fair today , we were so excited but after the 2nd marqeee of dresses made from what I can only describe as French tablecloths, the excitement wained. Predominately clothing , jewellery and candles, most of the stall holders who used to exhibit there who sold vintage, antiques and stylish homewares have stopped selling here. We did buy some gorgeous sheepskins though and a lovely painted metal platter. I’d love to see some diversity back here.
Disappointed of Wadhurst.
Just discovered a small garden nursery mentioned on here last week. It’s on the A21 between Flimwell and the A21 diner, on the left going south, look out for the signs after Ringden farm. Malcom the farmer/ gardener has some lovely perennials, veg plants, hanging baskets and fresh homegrown, strawberries and asparagus. Very reasonable prices.
Came away with a boot full.
This isn’t the nursery it’s our bnb, just planted up the pots with geraniums and cosmos.
Aurora Borealis from the Barn bnb, no need to go on fancy cruises and flights, it’s right here in Wadhurst. Hoping for another show tonight.
Peaceful, far reaching views, cosy nights in listening to an incredible vinyl collection whilst relaxing by the woodburner. DM for rates.
Well that was a find, delicious vegan breakfast and breakfast bagel Freestyle cafe, lovely friendly staff, Becky and Lou , we’ll be back.
Feeling very happy about this last review .
Last minute cancellation 20-23rd December.
And we’re up. A sprinkle a Christmas magic in the bnb.

Barn in Wadhurst, United Kingdom. The self contained contemporary Architect designed Barn is a luxurious couples retreat, located next to the owners home and surrounded by beautiful...
A fun packed night watching was just the much needed ticket after yesterdays sad start. We had a picnic in the field with friends and then hilarity ensued. This usually happens once a year and everyone tries to get tickets. So if you get a chance and they are coming to your village in the south east I urge you to go, they don’t disappoint.
Lost our beautiful boy today, 13 years of pure joy. He was always a hit with our bnb guests a real softy. He will be sadly missed by all who got to spend time with him. RIP Alfie. 😢
Treated us to a new guest book , personalised… fancy don’t you think?
When you come and stay at our Barn bnb , you must visit Hastings Old Town and have the best fish and chips , be sure of a friendly welcome, fabulous food and service and a great view. The sun shone again as we drove to the coast , it’s been a cracking week. Thought after last nights fierce lightning storm display we might have been rained off. Sadly our trip to my favourite shop was brought to a stop as they’d had a flood from all that rain last night, oh well, next time I’ll be back for another brush I really must add to my collection.
What a day, Great Dixter house and garden, perfect day for it. We are blessed with so many fantastic places to visit around here. Then a scrummy lunch at Ewhurst Green. Now chilling under the vereandah, it’ll soon be gin o’clock with sis
Cheeky Monday lunch with big sis , delish Cote de Bouef then a meander around their gorgeous garden that was featured on Gardeners World .
Heavenly blooms from at the Eridge Park today and on tomorrow, don’t miss out. Beautiful antiques, flowers and coffee, the best fair of the year by far.
Glorious day in the Shire.
Fresh homemade bread is offered in our welcome basket along with homemade yogurt , granola and fruit compote, our freshly laid eggs and flapjacks. We like to spoil our guests.
Today we made bread, not just any old bread, it was Pumpernickel with pecans, made over 3 days using a ‘Biga’ or starter. Then we made potato gnocchi, with baby braised artichokes spring vegetables in a sage butter, then came the Red mullet with bouillabaisse sauce and caramelised fennel, then the king of the sea, the Turbot, filleted , pan fried and served with a cucumber beurre blanc sauce, sorrel and caviar. That was my favourite, the sauce 😙. The gnocchi, I wasn’t into it, then again to be fair I’ve never liked it, going to try roasting it in the oven next time. Learning so much on this Advanced cooking skills course with fantastic tutors and such a great bunch of fabulous foodie new friends, tomorrow is our last day . It’s been so much fun. If you are into cooking, do yourself a favour, book yourself on a course at Leiths school of food and wine
The ‘E’ came out to play today. Our guest staying at the moment used to do the upholstery on Jags so that was an interesting chat.
Beautiful Bodiam castle, only 20 mins from us. 14C. One of the most stunning castles in the uk.
We’re ready for you,new bed linen footstool upholstered by me in Springbok hide I brought back from South Africa , Parkinson black and white prints, lamps
Lovely pics from my latest guests , the calm before the storm. Our Barn is a welcoming writers retreat, somewhere to hibernate, chill out, inspire, kickstart the brain waves or just plain relax, it’s got a vinyl collection that rocks !
Small but perfectly formed. The shower room in our holiday let has fluffy white towels and sumptuous luxury brand toiletries by which are available to buy.
Glorious day in the shire. Here’s the Barn and that drop dead view, why would someone give 4 stars for location? Is it because you have to drive to a pub/ shops? We are very rural, it says in the description on Airbnb. Can’t please some folks.
Merry Christmas to one and all. Going to be a quiet one here as we’ve already had the kids and other halves here 2 weeks ago, so just us two and the furry legged ones. Presents were a surprise, 2 frying pans and a week long advanced cooking skills to Leiths school of food and wine… is that a hint? I can’t wait , he knows it’s a vested interest. Hope you all got what you wanted .
Stay safe 🙏
And we’re off! Tree is up in the BnB, Christmas is a coming and we like to spoil our guests.
