King Charles Coronation Commemoration Event on Monday 8th May from 7pm starting at John O’Groats Signpost.
In keeping with tradition of marking Coronations with a beacon lighting in John O’Groats that dates back to the Victorian times of the 1800’s, we will carry this forward on Monday 8th still using the same torch that was used back in the 1800’s.
The duties will be preformed by Nellie Manson accompanied by her daughter, Postmistress and torch custodian Fiona.
We will also have some entertainment provided by some of the best young local musicians and Highland dancers from our community.
The event is free and everyone is welcome, so come along and join in as Coronations don’t happen often in Great Britain!!

We are happy to share the news that The Castle & Gardens of Mey will be reopening on 1st June 2021, including Tearoom, Shop, Gardens and Animal Centre. With the exception of our opening day, we will be closed Monday and Tuesday and open Wednesday to Sunday 11.00 - 15.00 throughout June and onwards, although these times may be subject to change which we will announce immediately.

First entry to the Castle is at 11.00 and last entry at 15.00. You must book your ticket online before visiting as we have measures in place for the safety of everyone. Our booking system is due to launch soon and we will share it with you as soon as possible.

Friday Review

Necklace of Lies and Ring of Truth are the 2nd and 3rd books in the Mizpah Ring Trilogy by my author friend Dorothy Stewart. (I read Mizpah Ring a few years ago). The books tell the captivating tales of the Cormacks, Mackays and Sinclairs. The Mizpah Ring takes us from Wick to the Americas during the Klondike gold rush of 1897 with the next two books being mostly set in Wick, Necklace of Lies is set in the 1930s and Ring of Truth in the 1960s. Dorothy’s writing is fabulous and you quickly get hooked by the story lines and characters. I think Ring of Truth might be my favourite of the 3, but all three books are excellent. I definitely recommend these novels.
