What a beautiful day! It’s a changeover day here and I always have my checklist to complete, I’ve drawn the curtains to try and help the lodge keep a little cooler while the sun is out. The electrician has been early this morning and tested the electrics in the Lodge and we’ve also replaced the broken oven with a new one. Always something to do 😁

One more job ticked off the list, bathroom basin cupboard top replaced as the original wasn’t holding the tap very well. Some additional photos showing the view from the lodge in winter, when you can take advantage of no leaves 🍁

Ready to welcome some more guests tomorrow. We've had a bit of a pause recently while we prepared the Lodge for new legal requirements for tourist accommodation. So a big thankyou to Bob for all the help and Steve for his wonderful advice. Obviously we've had smoke alarms etc in place previously but we've replaced them with interlinked alarms, which I think is a great idea, anything to save lives is a tick in my book! We've also added a few more safety devices and completed assessments & tests. Looking forwards to getting back to welcoming guests so they can sit back, unwind and enjoy the view :-)

Sat watching little owls 🦉 in the field next to the lodge, we think there are at least 3 ! So keep your eyes 👀 peeled and look on top of the field posts when you stay in the Lodge. We were watching them going on top of the posts, landing in the field and then flying up to the trees. Must have been practicing 🦉

Over the past week I've been sharing our lambing journey, on our Caravan Site page. So if you want to know how we are getting on, please follow our Field House Farm Caravan Site page. Below is a short video showing one of our ewes in labour. You can follow our happy and sad times over the next few weeks ... We only have a few sheep and there were 26 supposed to be in lamb this year. Every year we learn something different and we work closely with our vets when we aren't sure :-)

This evening I was walking away from the lodge, after preparing it for our next guests. I could hear the lovely birds in song so thought I would quickly turn back and take a video so you can hear them too 😁

I managed to capture a small video showing a Red Kite struggling against the wind today. They are seen daily at the moment near the Lodge, they don’t make a sound so keep an eye out 😁

Busy getting the Lodge ready for 2023 season, this week the boiler has had its annual service as well as a an intermittent fault fixed. Last week the electrician fitted a new electronic thermostat … which let me know that the boiler wasn’t working properly! All sorted and ready to welcome our new guests ✔️
