TaxPerspective Modern and Flexible Tax Advice

TaxPerspective Modern and Flexible Tax Advice Hello, I’m Louise. I have 20 years tax experience, in London and in Yorkshire, working for KPMG, Andersen, PwC and Grant Thornton as a Chartered Tax Adviser.

I set up TaxPerspective to provide clients with the more modern and flexible approach to tax advice that the bigger accountancy firms are often unable to deliver. During my time at those prestigious firms, I advised a wide variety of clients ranging from authors, entertainers, internet entrepreneurs, self employed consultants and farmers to major international law firms and large plcs. It was, how

ever, time for a change and TaxPerspective was born. I live with my husband and two beautiful daughters in the York area. When I’m not speaking to my clients or poring over tax legislation I can be found chasing after a 2 year old, baking chocolate brownies (yum!), attending school governor meetings or running the WI group that I set up with a friend in October 2009. As a family we love our annual skiing holiday – last year involved a trip to see Father Christmas in Lapland – and generally having fun together. One of my big passions in life is to help people to realise their full potential in their business by helping them tap into their own enthusiasm. This may seem at odds with being a tax adviser but the two things are inextricably linked. This is where I can provide the value to my clients that the bigger firms often cannot. Sometimes my clients are so busy doing what they do to make a living that they don’t take the time to step back and remember why they started in the first place. My clients have often told me that they go away from a meeting with me feeling inspired and empowered; ready to face the challenges of their business with a renewed vigour.

Private Client – How can TaxPerspective help you?

Maybe you fall into one of the following categories:

* I don’t have time to sort through my paperwork and work out what needs to go on my self assessment tax return;
* My financial affairs are fairly complex and I want to ensure that I am paying the least tax possible through tax planning;
* There is an international dimension to my tax affairs – I am not domiciled in the UK or not resident in the UK;
* I own my own business as a sole trader or as a partner in a partnership and need someone to prepare my accounts and tax return and undertake any tax planning for me;
* I run a successful business as a sole trader and want to avoid paying tax at 50%
* I own property that I let out;
* I have carried out property transactions (or am planning to) and I want to know what the capital gains tax will be and whether I can do any tax planning to reduce or eliminate it;
* I am concerned about how much inheritance tax my estate will have to pay on my death and would like to do some inheritance tax planning now.

There are many more situations that you might find yourself in where TaxPerspective could help you.
What do we do?

The first thing I do on being contacted by a prospective client is have a good chat. The problem you think you have may not actually be the problem that you actually have! In fact, you may not have a tax problem at all. By asking you the right questions and using my 20 years experience I can establish exactly what needs to be done and when. This is why I offer a free initial consultation. Once you have decided to engage TaxPerspective, we will come up with a plan to solve your tax problems. This may be doing your self assessment tax return or a bespoke piece of tax planning. We work alongside other professionals (such as financial advisers or solicitors) when necessary.
Owner Managed Business – How can TaxPerspective help you?

These are some of the questions I am frequently asked:

* Should I have a company car?
* Is a bonus better than a dividend?
* Can I employ my spouse?
* I’ve heard that I can reward my employees with share options….
* Can I gift shares in my business and not pay any tax?
* What happens when I sell my business – do I have to pay capital gains tax?
* Is it better to own my business premises personally, in the company or in a pension?
* I don’t want to sell my company but for my children to take over ownership when I’m older. Do I need to do anything now?
* How much Entrepreneur’s Relief am I entitled to?

If you were nodding to any of these questions or have any questions of your own, contact Louise now on [email protected] 0r 01759 388228 or 07810 103963.
Employment Taxes

Risk and reward. If you are an employer you will understand those three words very well. The risk of non-compliance in employment taxes can be very high due to the complexity of many of the issues. For example, do you fully understand the rules regarding home to work travel and temporary workplaces? Non-compliance can also occur as a result of outdated or inefficient procedures for claiming expenses. If your expenses policy isn’t robust, you may find the taxman knocking.

The reward element is always the more glamorous side of employment taxes. The key thing here is to balance the reward to save money for yourself as the employer and to offer suitable tax efficient remuneration or incentives for your employees.

Some of the areas I frequently advise on are listed below;

* Employment status including IR35
* Construction Industry Scheme
* Salary sacrifice
* Company cars
* Year end reporting
* P11d reviews
* P11D dispensation
* PAYE Settlement agreement (PSA)
* Full PAYE and NICs audit reviews
* Payroll – I can run your weekly or monthly payroll for you
* International aspects
* Expenses and benefits procedures review
