🥧 Galaktoboureko is a traditional Greek dessert that is popular throughout Greece and the wider Mediterranean region.

🍶 The dessert consists of a sweet and creamy custard filling, made with semolina and milk, which is sandwiched between layers of crispy phyllo pastry and then soaked in a sweet syrup.

👨‍🍳 The word "galaktoboureko" comes from the Greek words "galaktos," meaning milk, and "mpoureko," meaning pastry. It is believed that the dish has its origins in the Ottoman Empire, where it was known as "gullacta borek."
