“Comfortable and reliable method of tranportation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2014
By hiring Abadi Transport, we were met promptly at our promised pick up time by Gede who started by walking us through the itinerary. We didn't quite understand what we were getting ourselves into, so we let him take the reigns from the get go.
The first stop was a traditional Balainese cultural performance which to our surprise, cost 100,000 rupiah per person. We had already gotten out of the car, and decided just to go for it. We ended up leaving early to make the most of our day and get to the sights we really wanted to get to.
We talked about it with Gede and he allowed us to flex our originally scheduled itinerary a bit. We were taken to a mix of places that were more "touristy" (ie- the painting district where we were taken through the process of creating the art and then immediately whisked to the shop with lots of paintings on sale (all negotiable). Note that several of these paintings are also available and found in several other stores so don't feel the need to immediately buy unless you find something you really like.
We also stopped at the beautiful rice paddies and monkey forest. Each had separate admission fees, or things available for purchase (some of the vendors can be pretty aggressive).
All in all, we felt as if we were taken through quite a bit of the island. Gede was always prompt in answering our questions, and gave us clear direction of what to do when we got out of the car, and where to meet us when we were done. Not as much historical perspective as I would have liked, but still very well run and reliable!
