Reminder of Wayne Dickinson’s expedition back in 1982, although he wasn’t rowing!

UPDATE: Living up to its Wild Atlantic Way name last night, the ferocious winds & unforgiving Atlantic ocean pushed Damian & Cushlamacree ashore onto the rocks at Furbo Beach in the early hours of the morning. Although gutted not to have made it to Galway Docks, Damian is safe and well, and has become the first person in history to row from New York to Galway! We encourage everyone to come out at 11am to Galway Docks to welcome home our hero!

----

After 112 days since leaving New York & rowing across the the unforgiving & merciless Atlantic Ocean; the inspirational, courageous, and simply incredible human being, Damian Browne is nearly home! His estimated time of arrival is 10.30am-12.30pm at Galway Docks tomorrow, so be sure to get out and welcome our hero home! 🚣‍♂️🌊💪❤️

A very special visitor at the lighthouse today….

Danny Boyle, Lighthouse Attendant, was on hand to give Daniel a tour of the tower during the Donegal Camino 2021 visit. This is a clip of Daniel singing The Rose of Arranmore from the balcony.

We had a few unexpected visitors at the lighthouse today when the walkers on The Donegal Camino 2021 stopped for a break. They were accompanied by Alec Brown on the bagpipes, Denis O Donnell was their walking guide, and of course Daniel O Donnell was there to give us all a few songs. The walk is in aid of Cancer Care West.

A recent guest projected the animated film Call of The Sea, onto the gable of the houses, for his young daughter. Looks amazing with the sunset and the lighthouse in the background!

Thanks to the great work completed by the Irish Island Marine Resource Organisation (IIMRO) team, Island Fishermen are now in a position where they can, for the first time, market their produce directly to the public. This will not only allow Island fishermen to get access to improved prices, making fishing a more viable profession, it will give customers access to the freshest of produce with clear traceability back to the boat. We look forward to working with IIMRO who are committed to improving the resources available for inshore Island Fishermen and will provide updates as they are available.

Building on this opportunity created by IIMRO, Arranmore Seafoods has been established and will now be making available to customers fresh seafood produce that has been sourced in the clear waters around Arranmore Island. The Seafood available will include Lobster, Whole Crab and Pollack, with other species on offer when available.

Beginning Friday 2nd July, we will be open for order collection every Friday between 5pm and 6:30pm on Leabgarrow Pier. Order collection on other days can be arranged when ordering.
