Email: [email protected] We investigate young people's use of digital technologies with a focus on better internet policies and digital opportunities for all. Studies have included Irish children’s use of digital technologies within a comparative European framework. The project includes:
- Analysis of current data on childhood, ICTs, opportunity and risk in Ireland;

New research about children’s experience and understandings of online issues;
- Policy assessment of educational, e-inclusion, safety, and privacy dimensions of ICT use;
- Stakeholder engagement and guides to policy action in education, digital literacy and ICT regulation. The project is located in the CSER at DIT, a designated research centre dedicated to improving the quality of life of children, family and society. The core team consists of Brian O'Neill (Principal Investigator, Senior Research Fellow) and Dr Thuy Dinh (Post-doctoral research fellow). Supported is provided by the Centre for Social and Educational Research (www.cser.ie) with expertise in early childhood, children’s rights, risk studies, ICT in education, in collaboration with key national agencies (National Centre for Technology in Education, Office of Internet Safety) and international partners (EU Kids Online).
