A clear blue sky in the background of a Martello Tower, one of many built along Ireland's coastline in the early 1800s as part of the Napoleonic era coastal defence system.

During your visit to the Howth School of Fish we can include a boat trip to view the historic coastline and discuss this history of the area which included a Viking invasion in 960 AD.

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the ex*****on of Mr Robert Erskine Childers, father of former Irish president, Erskine Childers.

Educated in a British public school, this unlikely Irish republican played a key role in supplying arms for the Irish Volunteers with his wife Molly Childers, when they sailed their yacht The Asgard into Howth Harbour in 1914.

How did a friend of the Irish State get sentenced to death for posession of a gun originally given to him by Michael Collins?

This story along with many others of local historical interest will be told on your next visit to the Howth School of FIsh.

A beautiful shot of Ireland's Eye taken by a Howth School of Fish visitor recently.

We were on our way to see local lobster pots being raised on a company team building day out for a corporate "Green Team" excursion.

We tailored a half day experience for this group who chose from our range of modules to cover biodiversity, sustainable fish stocks, rope splicing, oyster shucking and of course a tasty seafood lunch with a glass of wine!

If you have a group looking for an interesting and immersive day out by the sea get in touch with us. Call 01-8392419 or email [email protected] to tailor your Howth School of Fish experience.
