Its inaugural production was Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Dublin in September / October 2012 as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival. Wide Open Opera’s mission is to bring a diverse range of opera experiences to audiences in Ireland. It will focus on major operatic works from the existing repertoire (those that have not been regularly performed in Ireland) and it also forges new experiences through presenting contemporary opera and through commissioning new works and engaging with contemporary artists.
