“Aboveboard is a southside based urban outdoor sports activity centre. We offer kitesurfing and stand up paddle boarding (SUP) lessons and rentals and also winch and wake boarding equipment and excursions. The club is conveniently located on Dublin city’s south coast in the hub of maritime Dun Laoghaire. Our courses run April to November instructors are fully certified and the club fully licensed

and insured to teach all these activities. Classes are structured by IKO / ASI/ BSUPA International standards and can be booked individually or in small groups so as to maximise class participation. Students are guaranteed to be learning in a safe controlled environment with a highly experienced qualified instructor, using the most up to date equipment. We also offer club rescue boat facilities and are fully mobile, enabling us to transport students to the most convenient locations and suitable launch areas. We cater for all ages and ability 13 years and above. Stand up paddle boarding is the most pleasurable way to spend an afternoon or evening after work. SUP’ing is a sport that promotes balance, strength and general fitness using minimal equipment - long board, extendable paddle and buoyancy aid. Our class are sunrise to sun down and can be booked in groups of up to six people. It is a superb way to explore the coastline and get up close and personal with nature and all the while getting a great full core body work out. Kitesurfing is an adventure surface water sport, using a leading edge inflatable kite to harnesses the power of the wind and propel the rider across the water on a small kite board. It is a sport with a growing community and interest, as it appeals to all kinds of sport’s enthusiasts, both young and old riders, making it a sport for everyone. Our location at the back of the west pier, is the perfect location for learning or improving water based activities. The greater bay in front of the centre is a safe environment, ideal for start up lessons. Aboveboard is ideally located near the beach at Salthill and Dun Laoghaire DART stations and 7, 8, 46A bus routes. So the final edit of Daniel and mini dropped today.
A project involving to international wake skaters hitting spots in Ireland with a winch.
May was great but wet.
Hats off for commitment to riding with early mornings and wet wetsuits (Dan lives in Thailand)yet never a complained once.

Hey everybody hope all is well.
I'm sorry that we haven't been open during this fantastic weather (going mad here haha)but I have some great projects going on at the moment and they will all be completed by the 18th of May.
I was hoping to open mid April but the weather was so sh*te I passed.
Unfortunately the good weather has just started as I'm beginning to work on a new project with some awesome people.
Once that is done I can focus a lot more on things Aboveboard SUP and kite related.
Outwardly bound flights for the lads are are booked for 18th May so we will have something going on around then for sure.
New 2017 Lokahi boards will be shipped around the 15th so will be in Dublin 19th-21st May
My knee is a lot better (till next Jan)the vans are sorted and insurance is good

But as someone said at least this poor pup did not die stuck on a beach alone cold or hungry.

Sad news today.... :(

We are very sad to say that poor little Mowgli passed away yesterday. Our team of interns and our wonderful animal managers Pedro and Mel are all understandably devastated by his loss...

Mowgli was a very poorly and emaciated pup when he was rescued weighing only 14kg, and was dehydrated and lethargic and suffering from multiple wounds over his entire body from his flippers. Initially he progressed well and was very playful and hungry and learned to self feed quickly.

He unfortunately was the first pup to come in infected with seal pox which is a common viral infection with seals, but he had a very bad case of them covering his whole body even on his face and all over his flippers. He was on antibiotics to prevent secondary infection, and given many other medicines and remedies to try and keep him comfortable while the virus ran it's course.

Often seals will have the seal pox and will not be badly affected by them. However, because Mowgli was so poorly to begin with and his immune system was already compromised, his severe case of seal pox was sadly too much for his little body to cope with....

We are all still dealing with his loss after putting so much effort in to trying to save him with the desperate hope of him getting better and being able to return to the wild. Unfortunately this will never happen for you poor little baby. These are the worst days in the world of wildlife rehabilitation...

Rest in peace little man... swim free out there now Mowgli...

Decided to try something different yesterday and took a two hour SUP (Stand Up Paddle board) Lesson with Above board in Dunlaoire (https://www.facebook.com/aboveboardkitesupwakebike/?fref=ts). Great crack and unlike surfing you don't get a wave on the head when you fall off the board. The local Seals popped up to see if there was any fish going. AboveBoard also rent out boards if you just want to go for a paddle, the harbour makes for a great safe place to practice without the danger of getting washed out to sea.
