Alan Barnes Taxi Service

Alan Barnes Taxi Service Based in County Clare, offering Airport Transfers, Private Tours & Sightseeing. Nationwide Service. Hello and Welcome to my page! Let my introduce myself. Alan
(25)

Thank you for looking in, and I do hope that you find at least some of the answers to your questions here. My name is Alan, and I operate an owner driven taxi, and private hire service, on the Western side of Ireland. I am based in Ennis town, County Clare, which is ideally situated to access the Wild Atlantic Way, and being almost central to the same. Shannon Airport is a 20 minute drive away, an

d the world renowned Burren National Park with the Cliffs of Moher and its many other beauties, is within easy reach also. I am proud to say, that I have taken care of and met many people, both locally and from every continent, over nearly 3 decades in the Irish transport industry. Listening to comments and feedback from everybody during that time, prompted me to keep my service simple, yet effective - one man, one car. I cater for one to four persons max, I find that this affords me a more personal approach to you, the public. I offer a comprehensive service nationwide, to, and from all major air and ferry ports. I have my own itineraries for different day trips, or if you have your own, let me join the dots in between. There is always something special to be seen en-route whether you are visiting those iconic sights or the lesser known but equally as beautiful places. For those of you who might be trying to trace your Irish ancestors, I work closely with our local centre, just have as much information with you as you can find. We all know, that planning a can be a bit stressful. My aim is to relieve some of that stress when you arrive, and give you an informal, worry free start to your holiday, whilst you are here in County Clare. If I can be of any further help, whether you decide on booking my service, or indeed you just need some ideas for places to visit, please do not hesitate to contact me via email [email protected] or Facebook messenger! Thank you once again and safe travels!

The Stonehouse, at Dun Beg Fort on the Slea Head drive, Di**le. Run by two Sisters, this unique building houses a souvenir shop, restaurant, and full restroom facilities. A warm welcome awaits you as you enter, and a friendly, informative staff are on hand to advise and help, whether your questions are on items in the shop, or about the menu. Locally sourced organic produce is used, as is the seafood, cooked and presented with both care, and attention to detail. For a light lunch, I highly recommend the Chowder. Well worth a visit, even if only for a tea or coffee.

Just a five minute drive beyond the County Clare village of Carran, is the Burren Perfumery and Floral Centre. Nestled among a rocky outcrop, to say its a "hidden gem" would be an understatement. From the moment you arrive, you feel at one with the nature around you.
With a friendly staff in house, who are interested in you, and willing to advise. Take in a blending demo, or wander through the magnificent herb garden. Afterwards, a visit to the restaurant is a must. Its size belies the huge service provided daily, especially during high season, with fresh local produce used on the menu always. There is a full vegan menu, including soups. Special dietary requirements are catered to, with no fuss, by the wonderful ladies front of house. Restrooms are presented neat and clean and are an Eco friendly design. Overall, well worth a slot on any itinerary.

More than one day?
Here is an example of just one of the many multi- day tour itineraries that I work with.
Day 1. Today we meet in Dublin city or Airport, and depart for County Wicklow. The journey takes us through the Glen of the Downs to our first stop at Glendalough. From here we pay a visit to the Avoca Handweavers, passing through the Vale of Avoca on the way. Then it's on to Waterford City, with a tour of the Iconic Waterford Crystal factory, before checking into your chosen accommodation for tonight.
Day 2. Depart Waterford for Kilkenny City. Here, a visit to the Castle is a must do. The next stop on the agenda is the Rock of Cashel, County Tipperary. Possibly one of the most beautiful structures in the Country, and certainly very intriguing. Opt for the tour (approximately 1hour), or just wander around at your leisure. Our last stop today is Killarney, and your hotel, but not before we check out Muckross House and Ladies View.
Day 3. Depart Killarney for a full day out on the Di**le peninsula. There is so much to see, even on the way here, hidden gems you might say. This particular trip has everything for those of you that love raw nature at its best. It's an important place historically, and stories of a bygone way of life can conjure up many different emotions.
From here, it's on the road again direct to your accommodation in Galway City and our final stop together.
My personal view.
There is something for everybody in this itinerary, from the historian to the budding photographer to those who just want to enjoy the simplicity of life. There is, however, no escaping Irelands beauty, I'm afraid we're surrounded by it...

The Galway & Mayo day trip.
Visiting the heart of Connemara, including, Aughnanure Castle (April to October only).
Refreshment break at Recess Village. Scenic drive through the Inagh Valley, between the Maumturk and Twelve Bens mountains. Kylemore Abbey and gardens. Killary Harbour, one of only three glacial Fjords in Ireland. Leenaun Village and the Aasleagh Falls. Cor na Mona on the Northern shores of Lough Corrib. Cong Abbey and Village (location of the film "The Quiet Man). Ashford Castle grounds with a visit to Mrs. Tea's for a well earned "cuppa". This day trip offers spectacular photo opportunities.
