Leprosy:-
Leprosy has been eliminated, but SMK believes that the fight is far from over. Reluctance over accepting leprosy patients as equals still prevails in some sections of the Indian society. The organization not only rehabilitates leprosy patients through its branches in Jaipur, Jodhpur and Ajmer cities in Rajasthan and Patna (Bihar), but has also developed a strong support system for them. From providing them shelter and medical assistance to imparting vocational training, SMK goes an extra mile to make them feel independent financially, socially as well as emotionally. Brief about TB Project :-
-TB Project was started from April 2003
-Working mainly in urban slums. We have involved Private Practitioners in this project. 16 DOT Centres are operated by Private Practitioners under PPM initiative of SMK under supportive supervision of RNTCP Jaipur.
-We have registered 6453 TB patients under RNTCP and treated successfully 6031 TB patients upto March 2014 .
-14 MDR TB patients are also under treatment. 9 MDR-TB patients are successfully completed their treatment. Involvement of Private Practitioners in RNTCP:-
SMK is jointly working with private practitioners to provide leprosy care and DOTS services at 16 different places in Jaipur. These areas are primarily situated near the slum and highway areas. These centres are working as Leprosy Care and DOTS Centers. Practitioners here are private doctors assisted by paramedical workers. In Order to increase the coverage of providing TB services at community level. SMK developed innovative model of PPP between NGOs, PPs and community. In this, here is partnership at three stages
Stage I - between Public and SMK
Stage II - between SMK and PP’s
Stage III - between PP’s and Community

-To provide Psycho-Social, Nutritional and Financial support for treatment adherence.
-To improve success rate in MDR-TB cases
-To check transmission of disease by infection control practice.
-To promote early detection of MDR-TB cases in contacts
-Linkage of patients with social welfare schemes

The concept of joint families is declining and now the stage has come that most of the families do not like to live together anymore. The behavior of their wards is not affectionate towards the parents. It is due to the fact that the children love their parents very much till they are not married. After marriage, the responsibility of the youngsters also comes upon their family i.e. wife and children. Their affection towards their parents is getting faded. In this home, we picked some cured persons of leprosy & disabled people for their better care and to provide best services. SMK will try to be associated with charitable or voluntary agencies to carry out the project, which will be beneficial to the people. The initial funding support for this project was from DAHW.
