Bara-lacha la also known as Bara-lacha Pass is a high mountain pass in Zanskar range. This pass is located on Manali Leh highway connecting Lahaul district in Himachal Pradesh to Leh district in Ladakh.
Best time to visit: Its open from June to October and remain close rest of the year.
Best time to visit: Its open from June to October and remain close for the rest of the year, there is a place called Zing Zing bar, where locals from Darcha set up small tea stall camps with a line of beds with common toilet. Another good option is at Sarchu. Sarchu is 35 km away from Baralacha pass, on Manali- Leh highway toward Leh.
Weather: In summers days are cold but nights are freezing cold. In winters the place is extremely cold due to snowfall.

Under the age of 25 usually (not a compulsion), women practice the art of Kung-Fu in the Drukpa nunnery in Ladakh. These self-empowered women encourage many other women to participate in the same and especially encourages nuns to train in Kung-Fu. Not only that but further for those interested are taught at par with monks of the land to seek enlightenment. BBC also went on to make a documentary on their life.

Nubra valley is a white deserted area which is known as silk route. This is the same route which was used for trade in ancient time; the camels were used to get spices and silk to trade to rest of the world.
The valley has Shyok and Nubra River snaking through it and some beautiful monasteries. One of the largest statues of Buddha is located in Diskit, in Nubra valley.

Chacha Chachi Dhaba - Spiti Valley !!

Meet Chacha Chachi - beautiful and ever glowing celebrity of Spiti.

They known locally as chacha chachi run the "Chacha-Chachi Chandra Dhaba" which is the stoppage for all the travellers coming to and from Spiti Valley.

Not only they sell meals and other confectionery items like chocolates, juices, chips, etc but they also provide shelter in case you are stuck with no means of transportation.

We have not seen a couple so generous and full of love and keep affection for strangers.

In their 60s, Dorje Bodh and Hishe Chhomo (a couple from Manali) have been playing unassuming hosts to the tourists on way between Lahaul and Spiti at Batal, a desolate and chilly place on the banks of roaring Chandra river, for more than 35 years.

Batal is mid-way (over 50 kilometres) from Losar in Spiti to Khoksar in Lahaul and is 13 km away from Kunzum Pass. The lonely road stretch on both sides is tough, with no mobile phone signal in patches.

Himachal Pradesh is open for tourism as per the news, Now one can plan for Spiti Valley to meet such a nice couple

Chang la is situated at an altitude of 17,590ft (5,360m). The Changla Pass is on the route to Pangong Lake from Leh. It is named after the sadhu Changla Baba, to whom the Pass temple is dedicated. The small town of Tangste is the nearest settlement. The Changla Pass is the main gateway for the Changthang Plateau situated in the Himalayas. The nomadic tribes of the region are collectively known as the Changpa or Chang-pa.
