We are all living in strange times, that is to say strange as a stranger - unknown but had not expected it to be this strange. Fresh snow and sub-zero temperatures in Leh city in April when most of the country is frying in temperatures around 40 degrees!! Lovely heavenly weather in UT Ladakh. Blessed to be here

Mountaineering Expedition Rescue Operator

MERO Expedition travel agency started in 1990 in Leh, Ladakh stands for ‘Mountaineering Expedition Rescue Operator’. Mero organizes all treks, expeditions, climbing, sightseeing tours, monastery stay – tours, cultural insight tours and camping. The founder of the agency, Mr. Phunchok Tangias took the inspiration from mountaineering and contributed to the trekking in Ladakh.

MERO Expedition represents the first ever trekking material hiring shop in Ladakh.

Through MERO’s initiative the first ever outdoor rock climbing club was started in early 1990s namely, Mountain Lover.

Mr. Tangias has now retired handing the agency over to his son Mr. Sonam Yangjor. Under his father’s guidance he has worked as helper and guide in Ladakh since year 2002.
