Trek to Harihar Fort

" Experience the most amazing stairs in the mountain."

Hello Trekkers,

We would like to invite you for one day trek to Harihar fort at Nasik.

Harihar, also known as Harshgad is a beautiful trek located 15 km from Trimbakeshwar. Harihar fort looks like rectangular in shape from base village and built on triangular prism of rock the edges of this stunning fort is absolutely vertical. Rock cut stair case leads you the fort.

There is a small temple of Lord Hanuman and Lord Shiva on the plateau. A small pond is there in front of this temple. There is small caves on top of the fort accommodating 10-15 people easily. One of the vertical drops of the fort facing the Nirgudpada village is called ‘Scottish kada’, perhaps because it was climbed for the first time in November 1986 by Doug Scott, the legendary Himalayan mountaineer. It took him two days to climb the cliff which is 170m in height.

Vasota (also called Vyaghragad) is located in Satara district of Maharashtra. Vasota always remained with Marathas, Shirkes & Mores in 16th century. Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj incorporated Swarajya in 1655 during the conquest of Javli. Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj named the fort "Vyaghragad" (Vyaghra – means tiger), owing to its difficult natural defense. After Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Maratha Bajirao Peshwa carried on the Swarajya mission of ousting the Mughal invaders.

The fort today offers spectacular views of Koyana backwaters, forests of the Wildlife sanctuary and a superb trek for avid trekkers. Vasota trek offers a thrilling experience as you would be walking through dense jungle and you would get some amazing views of the surroundings.

This is every trekkers dream trek as the beauty of the fort and the surroundings will take your breath away.

Hadsar

Hadsar fort is among the many forts in Junnar region of Pune district which were meant for protection of the ancient commercial trade route from Mawal region to Kalyan via Naneghat. There is a marvelous sculpture design of the bastion and the fort entrance, which is not seen elsewhere. They are all carved from a single rock.
The uniqueness of this fort is in the construction of the entrance gate. The entrance gate, rooms for sentries, water cisterns, steps to the fort are all chiselled from single rock. There is temple of Mahdev at the top of the fort. There are stone cut idols of Ganesh, Garud and Hanuman in the temple. There is a big lake on the fort.

One day Trek To Devkund Waterfall

The waterfall is located inside the forest near a small village called ‘Bhira’, near Bhira Dam. It’s one of the virgin places with crystal clear water. It’s confluence of three waterfalls and is said to be the origin of Kundalika river. It’s about 2 hours trek from base village along the dam backwater and through forest to reach this place known as ‘Devkund’.

Here’s a chance to visit one of the most beautiful waterfall in Maharashtra. The destination next that keeps the monsoon bliss on is none other than the Devkund Falls. Dense, beautiful and filled with various shades of green, Devkund Waterfalls is a home to many unexplored species of wilderness.

Team MT brings you one of the exciting treks in Maharashtra, Raireshwar and Kenjalgad.

*Info*
*Raireshwar*
Raireshwar is the birthplace of Swarajya. Chhatrapati Shivaji maharaj took the Swarajya Oath at Raireshwar at the age of 16 on 27 April 1645.
Raireshwar has a temple famous for its historical importance. The temple is very old and of stone structure, but it was later re-constructed in the 18th century. The temple is on a plateau.

*Kenjalgad*
The fort is very small size plateau. The main entrance was ruined while the fort was dismantled by the British. There is a small magazine room, with no roof. The Kacheri or Sadar is in ruined form. The idols of Kenjai devi are also seen on the fort. There are two lime mixers with mortar stone in good condition. There were three large and six small water tanks on the fort. After the fort was captured by the British, they blow up the walls of the tanks and let the water drain out of the tanks.There are no live spring on the fort.

Trek to Harihar Fort " Experience the most amazing stairs in the mountain." Hello Trekkers, We would like to invite you for one day trek to Harihar fort at Nasik. Harihar, also known as Harshgad is a beautiful trek located 15 km from Trimbakeshwar. Harihar fort looks like rectangular in shape from base village and built on triangular prism of rock the edges of this stunning fort is absolutely vertical. Rock cut stair case leads you the fort. There is a small temple of Lord Hanuman and Lord Shiva on the plateau. A small pond is there in front of this temple. There is small caves on top of the fort accommodating 10-15 people easily. One of the vertical drops of the fort facing the Nirgudpada village is called ‘Scottish kada’, perhaps because it was climbed for the first time in November 1986 by Doug Scott, the legendary Himalayan mountaineer. It took him two days to climb the cliff which is 170m in height.
