Chile, in general, could be considered one of the homelands of the largest and deepest mines in the world; Chile is home to the world’s most established copper-mining industry and continues to be a hotbed of copper exploration activity.
SISGEO has been present in the mining sector in Latinoamerica and especially in Chile for over 20 years thanks to the technical collaboration and partnership of one of its most active Distributors, Geosinergia Ingeniería Y Medio Ambiente Ltda.
Located 80 km south of Santiago and discovered in the early 19th century, El Teniente is the world's biggest underground copper mine and the sixth largest copper mine by reserve size. El Teniente Mine is owned and operated by Chile’s national copper company Codelco.
SISGEO Instruments used for the monitoring and analysing of the geomechanical behaviour of the rocks and soils during the excavation, are mostly hundreds of our miniaturized digital borehole Extensometer “MEXID” with fibber glass rods and digital anchor load cells.
El Teniente, given its deep mining operational complexity, including Rock burst, has decided to have a state-of-the-art geotechnical monitoring system, one of the most modern in mining worldwide. Thus, today it is developing this together with Geosinergia and with Sisgeo geotechnical instruments, which are considered rugged for mining environments and reliable for their behaviour in mining extreme conditions.
The installation has been successfully managed by the skilled team of GEOSINERGIA our partner in this prestigious and important underground project.
