It's summer!! In Italy time of endless parties outside, dancing and in nature beautiful sunflowers everywhere. In Italian they are called girasoli, sunturners. This picture I took on the border Umbria Tuscany..

The grapes in our little vineyard are growing. Hopefully, we will have a better harvest than last year. Now they are still white, but in a few weeks, they will turn red.

Beautiful Umbria. In june you can admire these colourful plains full of different kinds of flowers. Almost like "our" bulb fields in the Netherlands. On the background of our picture together, you can recognise the shape of Italy.

Our favourite little town Città della Pieve. Medieval buildings on the edge of the hill looking to the Tuscan border. Only 20 minutes from Villa Montegabbione.
Little shops, markets and cute restaurants, all here. Tonight we were back at one of our favourites, where you always feel at home .duca

Today I went for sone groceries in our local minimarket and a surprise was waiting for me there, a giant Mortadella. The real one from Bologna with the pistacchio inside. Normally they cut mortadella in thin pieces, but Gianluca of Bottega del Monte in Montegabbione explained to me that today it will be cut in thicker pieces, so that you can eat it at the aperitivo or put it in a dish.
I will try it tonight in a quiche 😋, torta salata.

When life gives you lemons (or the greengrocer 😉), you make limoncello. We are fully prepared for next summer, but who knows, we can already take a sip at christmas. We are lucky that we can buy the real deal 96% alcohol and do not have to make fake stuff with wodka.

We are always looking for experiences for our guests. Winery was since a long time already on our list to visit and when we met the owners by coincidence at the truffle market in Fabro we arranged a wine tasting with lunch. What an amazing place and so close by. It started with a tour followed by a delicious lunch (meat from their own chianina cows) and wine tasting by lovely host Sabina. Perfect sunday. When you are our villa guests

Still beautiful weather in Umbria😎, 28 degrees. Most of our guests come in the summer, but this is also such a beautiful time to visit. Two smart ladies arrive this evening at the Perugia airport from Rotterd✈️

I think I visited the cathedral, the duomo of Orvieto more than ten times, and it's sempre una meraviglia, especially in the evening sun. Must see when you're staying in our holiday apartment.

We always search for new places for our guests, and we discovered a lovely restaurant with an amazing view and good food from the grill and local wines, reached by a beautiful drive through the umbrian hills.

On the order side of the region border of Umbria, nearby Villa Montegabbione, we find Toscana. On the right the old center of San Casciano dei Bagni where beautiful Etruskan statues were found and famous for its healthy hot springs
