🍺 Let’s enjoy bar-hopping in Goldengai !

Dimly lit alleyways teeming with tiny bars.
Compared with Kabukicho which has many high-rise buildings and neon signboards, the area has nostalgic and cozy atmosphere.
Golden-gai started as a black market after the war.
Then, the bars were gathered there, which many writers and film directors used to visit to talk together with alcohol overnight.
Now, stylish hidden or female-friendly bars are increasing.
And also in recent days, foreign tourists visit here to feel Japanese nostalgic.

Meiji shrine has long been a popular wedding spot, with about a dozen daily ceremonies conducted there especially on weekends.

The bride and groom led in procession by Shinto priests under large red umbrella.

箱根の魅力紹介シリーズ
〜Charms of Hakone 3️⃣
　Owakudani 大涌谷の成り立ち〜

箱根の名所の一つが、硫気水素を含む噴煙が吹き上り、一帯に鼻を突く硫黄の香が漂う「大涌谷」です。

直径11キロにおよぶ箱根火山のカルデラは、20万年以上前から始まった大噴火の
連続によって、8～13万年前に形成されたと考えられます。

爆裂火口跡の大涌谷、その上にそびえる
溶岩ドーム「冠ヶ岳」が出現したのは約3000年前の噴火で、同時期には芦ノ湖や
仙石原も誕生しました。

噴煙孔から立ち上る硫化ガスによって
草木は生息しづらく、岩石と赤茶けた
土が所どころ露出する荒涼とした雰囲気から、かつては「地獄谷」や「大地獄」と呼ばれていました。

1873（明治6）年、明治天皇の行幸の折りに、「天皇が訪れる場に地獄の名はふさわしくない」と大涌谷に改められました。

One of the popular must-visit spots of Hakone is “Owakudani”, where smoke of hydrogen sulfide are spewing out of everywhere, and the area is filled with the smell of sulfur.

The caldera of Hakone Volcano,
11 km in diameter, is thought to have been formed 80,000 to 130,000 years ago by a series of major eruptions that began about 200,000 years ago.

“Owakudani”, the site of a fumarole crater, and the lava dome, “Kanmuri gatake “ which rises above it, appeared about 3,000 years ago, and “Lake Ashi “ and “Sengokuhara “ were also created at the same time.

The sulfide gas rising from the fumaroles makes it difficult for plants and trees to inhabit in the area, leaving rocks and reddish-brown soil exposed in places.

The area was once called “Hell Valley” or “Great Hell” because of the desolate atmosphere where rocks and reddish-brown soil are exposed in places.

In 1873, during a visit by the Emperor Meiji, the name of the hell valley was changed to “Owakudani”, as the name “hell” was not appropriate for a place where the emperor would visit.

　Hakone Tozan railway🚃〜

Hakone Tozan Railway zigzags to climb up steep slope!

Train that runs there goes up and down for 15 km between Odawara and Gora.
The height difference is 500 meters. There is a section where the gradient is 80% which is the steepest slope in Japan.

箱根を走る箱根登山鉄道は、小田原～強羅間の15kmを上り下りします。
その高低差は約500m。途中には、日本で最も急な勾配である80%の区間もあります。

Leaving Tonosawa Station, the train arrives at Deyama Signal Station. However, the direction of travel is a dead end. The driver and conductor walk to a platform and take turns, and the train starts to move backward.

塔ノ沢駅を出て、電車は出山信号場に到着しますが，進行方向は行き止まりです。乗客は下車できず、運転士と車掌がプラットホームのような所を歩いて交代すると、電車が後ろ向きに動き出します。

After the first switchback, the train arrives at Ohidai Station. After passengers get on and off, the train departs in the opposite direction. Unlike the previous signal station, the switchbacks are performed at the station.

ひとつ目のスイッチバックを終え、電車は大平台駅に到着。乗客の乗り降りが済むと、ここでも電車は逆方向へ出発しました。最初の信号場とは違い、駅でスイッチバックを行います。

As soon as the train left Ohiheidai Station, train makes a third switchback at the Upper Ohiheidai Signal Station. Because this is just a signal station, there are no passengers getting on and off the train as in the first case.

大平台駅を出るとすぐ、電車はさらに上大平台信号場で3回目のスイッチバックを行います。ここは信号場のため、1回目と同じく乗客の乗り降りはありません。

Breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji from Hakone🗻✨✨

My.Fuji looks more beautiful in winter than other seasons because the air is clearer.
The first snowfall this year was at the end of September, a little earlier than usual.

昨日，箱根から富士山がこれだけキレイに見え感動しました🗻
今年の初冠雪は例年より二日早い9月30日。
一昨日も雪が降ったとのことなので，こんなに真新しい雪❄️がくっきり見えます。

One of the pleasures of visiting Toyosu fish market is eating delicious sushi .

We enjoyed the superb sushi @ the one of the most popular sushi restaurant “Sushi Dai “.

The legendary Sushi Dai goes beyond
customers' expectations.

An Omakase set at Sushi Dai costs
JPY 4,900 .
If I ate anywhere else , the price would be double or triple.
The cheap price is definitely attractive.

マグロの競りを見学した後は「寿司大」に直行！

築地時代の待ち時間は最高6時間。今はぐっと短く30分待ち。
30分の辛抱で最高に美味しいお寿司が食べれて幸せ💕🍣

If you want to enjoy Tuna auction in Toyosu fish market, you should be early bird.
Tuna auction starts from 5:30.

It's worth getting up early.
I’m sure that watching tuna auctions is very exciting experiences!

If you win the lottery ticket, you can get a special access to the observation space to have a closer look at the auction, but don’t worry!
You can still watch the auction without a ticket from the big window on the 2nd floor.

The most interesting part of tuna auction is that the bidding price is determined by an exchange of finger signs, known as “Teyari “.

早起きして豊洲市場にマグロの競りを見に行ってきました。
抽選に申し込まなくても，二階の見学者コースからも充分競りを楽しめます。
面白いのは，「手やり」と呼ばれる，指のサインで競り値が決まるところ。
