The Board of Directors and the entire team at Acacia Holidays are yet to come to terms with the demise of our Business Development Director of the state of Texas, Keith Kugler, who sadly passed away at his home in Texas, after a 4 month long battle with cancer.
Words can't describe how much we'll miss him. Keith was instrumental in establishing the Acacia Holidays brand in Texas and US at large, and through his dedication, he managed to take the brand to unprecedented heights in the travel industry.
We pray to God, that He may grant his wife, children, and the entire Kugler family strength and comfort during this tough time.
Acacia Holidays wishes you all a happy 4th of July. Be blessed and stay safe.
Madagascar is a dream destination for nature and outdoor lovers — and half the fun is getting to all these incredible attractions. Those who relish an adventure will come into their own: the off-road driving is one of a kind, and there are national parks that only see 100 visitors a year, regions that live in autarchy during the rainy season, and resorts so remote you’ll need a private plane or boat to get there. Then, there’s the sea! With over 3,000 miles of coastline, nearly 300 miles of barrier reef and 250 islands, no stay in Madagascar would be complete without a few days on the island’s shores. Divers will revel in the choice of sites, from underwater ‘cathedrals’ to shipwrecks, and snorkelers will be awed by the sheer grace of turtles and marvel at the rainbow of colors displayed by corals and fish. For those keen to keep their heads above water, the idyllic beaches, sailing, dugout canoe trips, and whale-watching will prove hard to resist
Once a vast and powerful agricultural territory stretching from southern Egypt to encompass much of what is now West and East Africa, Ethiopia has often found itself in conflict — with nature, ambitious armies, and historians. It is famed for the Queen of Sheba, the possible resting place of the Ark of The Covenant, and the discovery of the 3.5 million year-old fossil remains of ‘Lucy’. In the time of the Roman Empire, Ethiopia was a critical link between political and trading territories and its people were renowned for their beauty and sophistication.

Located between Zimbabwe and Zambia in Southern Africa, Victoria Falls is a stunning testament to the raw power of nature. An UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest sheet of falling water anywhere in the world, the falls are an unforgettable addition to any of Acacia Holidays’ programs. Once there, take a walking tour of the falls, enjoy dinner on a sunset cruise, or, for more adventurous souls, raft the turbulent Zambezi River gorges. A natural addition to South African safari, the falls are also easily reachable from East Africa as well.
From the magical watery world of the Okavango Delta to the wide open spaces of the Kalahari Desert; the bleached salt pans of Makghadikgadi to the wildlife-filled region along the Chobe River, few places can match the diversity of habitats found in Botswana. A leader in conservation and sustainable eco-tourism, Botswana has set aside nearly one-third of the country's land as wildlife reserves and national parks. Unspoiled, sparsely settled, and responsibly managed, Botswana offers visitors the chance to experience Africa in its natural state. Most camps are small, remote, and reachable only by air. Herbivores, predators, and birds all flourish in this wildlife paradise; regions like Savute and Chobe offer some of the vest elephant viewing on the entire planet.
The verdant mountains and forests of Rwanda and Uganda provide sanctuary to the last two groups of critically endangered mountain gorillas. Extensive conservation efforts have helped restore the populations and there are select, habituated groups that can be viewed by permit. Mesmerizing natural beauty surrounds you everywhere in Rwanda. You can hike through an ocean of terraced slopes and forested hills or enjoy endless birding and big game watching in the woodlands and lakes of Akagera National Park.
Home to a stunning variety of landscapes and wildlife, cities, and cultures, Southern Africa is an enchanting blend of city and safari. Explore beguiling Cape Town and its surroundings: world-class vineyards, majestic mountains, wide beaches, rugged Cape Point, and delightfully playful penguins. Greater Kruger National Park in South Africa’s northeast offers a superb safari experience with a great variety of wildlife and luxurious accommodations. Victoria Falls, on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, is not to be missed — the sound of a wall of water nearly a mile wide plunging 325 feet into the gorge below will stay with you always. Venture further into the true wildernesses of Botswana and Namibia where you track wildlife amongst unique landscapes of desert and water. Whatever you choose, Southern Africa serves as the backdrop for an unforgettable adventure
Today, the East Africa safari industry mourns the loss of Snyggve, aka BJ (Bob Jnr), the most famous lion in the Serengeti, who was killed in a vicious fight with 3 younger males.
BJ was dominant in Namiri Plains, East of serengeti, for 7 of his long lived 12 years, but sadly, died fighting an honourable death among lions in what encapsulated the cycle of life life in the wilderness.
Can't decide between Kenya and Tanzania? We don't blame you. One of our most popular itineraries, this 13-day safari lets you experience majestic locations in both countries including Mount Kenya, Ngorongoro Crater, and plenty of time in both the Maasai Mara and Serengeti - always with your own driver and outstanding accommodations. Add in an early morning hot air ballon ride over the vast grass plains for an unique perspective on this magical and primodial landscape.
Explore. Wonder. There’s so much to fit in — hiking and mountain biking, learning to roll couscous, camel trekking, shopping in the souks, getting lost in the medina, and sweating in the hammam. You can lazily watch the world go by on panoramic terraces above scented gardens and grand squares, or eagerly mop up tajines flavoured with saffron and argan. And meeting the gracious Moroccan people involves nothing more than sitting in a cafe and waiting for your mint tea to brew. Exotic, sometimes overwhelming, and always unexpected, Morocco is bursting with life, ancient history, and natural beauty.
Few places in the world loom as large in the imaginations of the adventurous as Egypt. Who among us hasn’t dreamed about looking up in awe at the Great Pyramid of Giza or gazing upon the enigmatic Great Sphinx? A favorite chapter of world history, Egypt is home not only to the Pyramids of Giza — the last surviving wonder of the ancient world — but a wealth of temples, fortresses, tombs, and cities whose history stretches back nearly five millennia. Stand and ponder as scientists and historians have for hundreds of years about how and why these massive monuments were constructed. Journey up the Nile River as travelers before you have done for thousands of years, past groves of date palms and fields irrigated by the river’s life-giving waters.
The Great Migration is renowned for the dramatic river crossings in the Masai Mara. Today, we are deep in southern Serengeti, where the migration cycle begins.
Tens of thousands of calves are born daily from last week and will continue late into March.
For the young calves, it's a race against time and nature. Predators will lurk in the periphery of their herds as they feed while before heading north to face the dreaded Mara River in 5 months' time.
We would like to take this juncture to offer our thoughts and prayers to Turkey and Syrian families who were affected by the disaster, and sincere condolences to those who have lost loved ones.
Turkey welcomed us with open arms at the EMITT that was to start tomorrow, but due to the massive earthquakes yesterday, we understand the need to postpone the event. We stand with you during these tough times.

Some really good news for us this week: Kenya and Rwanda's International Airports will be open from 1st August 2020 meaning that we can finally welcome you all to these very special parts of the world. Kenya has also been awarded safe travel status by the World Travel and Tourism Council! On top of this, Kenya residents can now resume inter-county travel, maintaining respectful precautions of course, and take advantage of the many beautiful wildlife locations on our doorstep! So, wherever you might be traveling from, please know how excited our staff will be to see you! It's been a long-old haul but it's given us plenty of time to make sure all our properties are Covid compliant and well prepared to host you in a safe environment. #MagicalKenya #SafeTravels #DiscoverAfrica #Safaris
There have been some incredible crossing this month, as thousands of wildebeest move back and forth across the Mara River, with moments of excitement and baited breath, guests watch as the predators move in and the wildebeest swarm and mass in number, getting ready to brave the murky waters and finally make a dash for the other side. The sheer number of wildebeest in the Masai Mara this year is extraordinary making for some amazing moments, not only at the river crossings but across the plains as the daily circle of life plays out. In every direction there are wildebeest, zebra, hartebeest and a host of other plains game and camouflaged in the grass or dappled shadows of a tree, are the majestic or elusive predator’s; lions, leopards and cheetahs that are part of this phenomenal ritual that plays out every year. #DiscoverAfrica #AcaciaHolidays Prince Acha'linga credits:Alex Kanuga, Elewana Guide
Maasai Mara National Reserve came to life as the annual wildebeest migration season kicked off on Wednesday. The wildebeests crossed the Sand River Gate point on Tuesday evening after delays for over two weeks due to wildfires at Northern Serengeti in Tanzania. The migration lights up tourism in the reserve with the huffing and snorting of the animals as they migrate kicking off the annual spectacle.
Rhinos wallow in mud to protect their skin from the sun, to cool off and to ward off parasites. In essence, the mud acts as a natural UV buffer and asssits thermoregulation. In areas where summer temperatures soar to above 40 degrees Celsius, you’ll notice even more rhinos wallowing. When it is hot, it is vitally important that rhinos have hollows of water where they can cool off because, despite their armour-like appearance and their 1.5-cm-thick skin, they are sensitive creatures that suffer tremendously from sunburn and insect bites.
