The EXO Foundation is an Asian based not-for-profit, apolitical, non religious organization established in 2011 and officially registered in Cambodia. Our mission is to foster responsible tourism for a sustainable development of the travel industry throughout Asia. Our aim is to improve the livelihoods of the most disadvantaged populations, while minimizing the negative social, cultural and enviro
nmental impacts tourism may generate. With this purpose, the EXO Foundation works in two main directions:
- Advising Exotissimo Travel company, its clients and, travellers to adopt best tourism practices to improve their impacts in the destinations,
- funding projects that directly contribute to the sustainable development of destinations and, advising travellers how to help, where their donations will be most efficiently used without creating dependency. In this regard, EXO Foundation’s website constitutes a key platform to promote carefully selected initiatives throughout Asia, which demonstrate a genuine commitment to the human and economic development of local communities, whether through human protection, health and sanitation, empowerment of the most vulnerable, the creation of economic activities, cultural revival or, environmental conservation. Donations raised through our website are collected by the Foundation and further distributed to the corresponding projects on an annual basis. Any costs associated to these operations are fully covered by the Foundation, thus guaranteeing that 100% of funds raised are directed towards selected projects. At the EXO foundation we believe that charity is a nice way to give back to the communities but that it also foremost necessary to conduct tourism business in the most ethical and responsible way so that it effectively contributes to local economic development and heritage conservation. As such the EXO Foundation acts as an advisor to the travel industry through the development of responsible travel policies, awareness raising programs targeted at tourists, as well as assessing and identifying operators and activities in line with responsible tourism principles.
