Anatoliy Nikolaevich Boukreev was a mountaineer from Kazakhstan, who made ascents of 10 of the 14 eight-thousander peaks — those above 8,000 m — without supplemental oxygen. From 1989 through 1997, he made 18 successful ascents of peaks above 8000 m. Big Almaty Peak is clearly visible from almost anywhere in the city of Almaty. The top is shaped like a rock pyramid. At the foot of the peak the Big Almaty Lake is located, as well as scientific premises for astronomical and space researches. The Big Almaty Peak is not the highest and the most difficult peak of Trans-Ili Alatau and is reachable by any physically healthy well-trained person who has ever been in the mountains. The most accessible route lies along the southern ridge. In the lower part there is a good path on the talus slope, in the upper - a pass through the rocks and huge boulders. From the top of the peak a magnificent panorama of the city, the lake and the peaks of the Northern Tien Shan opens.
In winter the Big Almaty Peak is also accessible as the route runs along the southern crest of the ridge, where there is little snow in winter time. To the start of the trekking route, which begins at the Dzhusaly Kesen pass, you will be delivered by the car. Passing the Space Station premises you will go by the good trail to the pass, which separates the and Medium Almaty peaks. Then immediately steep climb to the peak begins, which leads to the cliffs rising above in height.

Bukreev peak is located in the northern extremity of Small Almaty spur, in the upper reaches of Butakovka gorge and it is the ultimate peak of the spur. It's altitude is 3010 meters. The northern slope refers to Kotyrbulak gorge, the western slopes descend to Butakovka gorge, the eastern slopes - to Left Talgar. Some time ago peak was called "Pioneer Peak", because technically the summit is very simple and even children can climb to the top. This is the reason why in surroundings there are so many kid’s camps located in the gorges of Kotyrbulak and Elik-Sai. It is possible to climb to the summit all year round. In winter and spring, for example, this mountain is popular with fans of off-piste skiing and snowboarding. In 2007, the peak was renamed in honor of the legendary Soviet mountaineer Anatoly Bukreev, and memorable tablets were also made on the top of the peak. Great were the services of Bukreev in the world of local and world mountaineering. He was a mountaineer who climbed 11 of 14 eight-thousanders without using an oxygen mask. His ability to stand enormous loads and incredible physical endurance are admired by many world climbers and mountaineers even nowadays. Bukreev lived in the village of Gornyi Sadovod (now Kotyrbulak) and trained in the nearest foothills, so the summit was like home spot for him. He often liked to run on it's top straight from home. The mountaineer died in tragic circumstances in December 1997 during the ascent to the summit of Annapurna (8,091 m). 📷:

This picturesque indigenous locality impresses with its heavenly landscapes The Canyon depth is 200m. The height of the bluff mountains of the Canyon reaches 150-300m. The Canyon itself represents a monument of nature formed with sedimentary rocks aged more then 12 million years. The landscapes are virtually miraculous there. Charyn Canyon is getting scarlet, pink and orange colors at sunset when the sun is disappearing behind the horizon. There is quietude around, and the Charyn river bobbles washing against the cliffs can only be heard from below. This sight will leave nobody indifferent. 📷:

Kolsay Lakes is one of the most beautiful places of Kazakh nature. They are also called a blue necklace of Northern Tien Shan. And it is quite understandable – such beauty cannot be found anywhere! Lake Kaindy is located in the south of Kazakhstan, within Kolsai Lakes National Park. It is located 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) above sea level, 130 kilometres (81 mi) east of Almaty. The lake was formed as the result of a major limestone landslide triggered by the 1911 Kebin earthquake forming a natural dam. It blocked the gorge and was filled by mountain river water. Lake Kaindy is about 400 meters long, reaching depths of nearly 30 meters at its deepest point. Altered by limestone deposits, the water maintains a bluish-green color.

Chiseled out of the steppe clay by an eponymous white river, Charyn Canyon is Kazakhstan’s supreme rift. After crossing the endless, wide-open plains outside of Almaty, the canyon comes as a surprise. Seemingly out of nowhere, the landscape gets a third dimension.
