Labour Day is an annual holiday to celebrate the rights of workers. Labour Day has its origins in the labour union movement, specifically the eight-hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest.
For most countries, Labour Day is synonymous with, or linked with, International Workers' Day, which occurs on 1 May. For other countries, Labour Day is celebrated on a different date, often one with special significance for the labour movement in that country. Labour Day is a public holiday in many countries...

Responsibility lies with all stakeholders of the industry and surely desperation sometimes leads to such acts.
This was on our way to the Udawalawe National Park entrance yesterday and it is sad to see these tourists openly feeding a young tusker endangering theirs as well as the tusker's life. The roadside shops prepare and sell fruit bags for the sole purpose of feeding these and many other lone elephants waiting on the other side of the electric fence (if it is actually working).
Where are the Authorities safeguarding both the tourists and wildlife.??
Is this encouraged.?? Is this the way forward and are we to look at it in a sympathetic way towards the suffering people making something out of this or be the villain..???
We would love to hear your thoughts...

The tea plantations in Sri Lanka are mainly located in the central highlands, with some areas spreading as far as the coast. The lower mountain slopes of Sri Lanka’s lush highlands are swathed in millions of tea bushes, making up the estates3. These historic tea plantations are a legacy of British colonial culture and remain an archetypal image of Sri Lanka.

The largest animal ever to exist on Earth, the magnificent and iconic blue whale, was previously hunted almost to the brink of extinction by commercial whaling activities and remains an endangered species today.
The blue whales found in Sri Lankan waters, in the Northern Indian Ocean, are non-migratory and believed to be resident in these waters year-round, but the increasing pressures of entanglement, plastic pollution, human-made ocean noise and, critically, ship strikes, threaten the survival of this population.
