It's a very difficult time in Morocco this week and people have a lot of feelings about travelling to a country that has experienced such tremendous loss. While our priority is always your safety first, we can assure you that Marrakech is open, it's safe, and it's waiting for the warm embrace of international compassion.
All tours by all major operators are proceeding with some re-routing to allow for aid to pass.
It is important to consider the context of Morocco's economy at this time.
After the border closures during COVID, the tourism industry suffered deeply.
Now, with more recovery to be done, it is more important than ever to keep working Moroccans working.
Your tourist dollars will trickle back to the families and communities in need for months to come.
Choking off a major source of income at a time when every single dollar is used immediately for sustenance, is not the way to help.
We assure you that rescue and recovery efforts will continue, you will not be taking up resources from people who need them. You ARE most welcome and the people of Morocco need to feel your love and compassion so much.
Come. Bring an extra suitcase. Fill it with warm clothes. Winter is coming

Chefchaouen. Also known as The Blue Pearl or the Blue City is a small town nestled in to the Rif Mountains in the north of Morocco.

Boasting a small and very quiet Medina, painted predominantly blue, the city dates back to the 15th century. With a heavy Spanish influence and populated by conservative Riffian Berbers, Chefchaouen is an idyllic stop on any tour to Morocco if you have the time.

Come for the blue, stay for the local goat cheese and the lazy, happy cats.

Good news from the CDC this morning on Morocco’s alert level. We’ve been elevated to Level 2 because we’ve been good COVID citizens.

High vaccination rates, long periods of restrictions (such as a curfew recently lifted, masking, vaccine passport requirements etc) have helped a great deal. We are very happy with the way things have been handled here in Morocco.

Also to note that you require proof of full vaccination to enter, and we strongly recommend a PCR test as other countries require it for transit.

You may also be subject to a rapid test on arrival.

Come! We are here and it’s a perfect time of year to enjoy Morocco. (Hey, even the CDC calls us “exotic” 😃)

We had an inquiry today about flying from Marrakech to Ouarzazate. While it is completely possible to do that, you would miss the stunning (and pretty exciting) drive over the High Atlas Mountains. Once you arrive at the peak of the road you are at 2160 m above sea level, the highest mountain pass in North Africa. It’s called Tizi n Tichka and it’s pretty amazing to look back over your route. This is the part of the travel where camels were left behind in the south and mules and donkeys took over the work back in ancient times. Can you imagine travelling this on foot?
