One of the main attractions of Northern Mongolia is the lake Khuvsgul with its crystal clear water. Mongolians refer to it as Mother Sea. Being the deepest fresh water lake of Mongolia Khuvsgul contains almost 1% of drinking water deposit of the planet. This beautiful lake is surrounded by gorgeous mountains of Eastern Sayan Mountain range and dense taiga forest which is the home for ibex, argali, elk, wolf, wolverine, musk deer, brown bear, Siberian moose, and sable.

Situated in the valley of Orkhon river the city of Kharkhorin once was the capital of Great Mongolian empire founded by legendary Chinggis Khaan. At the same place later on in the history the first ever Buddhist monastery of Erdene zuu was erected on the ruins of the former city.
