Written by Franco Barajas in 1942 but published until 2020 by "tertulia cultural caminando por las calles San Miguel" under the approbation of the family The print was only 1000 pieces for free distribution.

This book refers to seven biographical essays.

CCXIII ANIVERSARIO DEL FUSILAMIENTO DEL GENERALÍSIMO DON IGNACIO DE ALLENDE.

A las 6 de la mañana del 26 de junio de 1811 después de más de tres meses de agónico suplicio se oyeron toques de clarín, el redoblar de tambores y las voces de mando que indicaban un gran movimiento de tropas, mientras las campanas de los templos con sus múltiples teñidos anunciaban al vecindario de Chihuahua "que los caudillos serían fusilados". sin quitarle los grilletes se condujo a los presos a la plaza de los ejercicios. Ahí estaban listos los pelotones de fusilamiento, a solo tres pasos de los banquillos donde serían sacrificados.

Fue fusilado por la espalda como traidor.

EL 24 DE JUNIO CELEBRAMOS EL NACIMIENTO DEL SEÑOR SAN JUAN BAUTISTA
El día de san Juan para las comunidades rurales del centro de México es un importante marcador calendárico pues es el inicio de la temporada de aguaceros. Por eso dice la gente del rancho que el día de San Juan: “llueve porque llueve”
En San Miguel encontramos una talla de piedra de San Juan Bautista en la fachada del templo del Oratorio de San Felipe Neri y un oleo sobre tela atribuido a Cristóbal de Villalpando en la capilla lateral del lado de la epístola en la Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel.

Recordamos a Don Ignacio Paulino Ramírez Calzada "El Nigromante", uno de los intelectuales Mexicanos más avanzados del siglo XIX, escritor filósofo, poeta, periodista, científico, un verdadero; liberal revolucionario, radical y hombre de altas ideas.

Today September 8th. Is the beginning of “Fiestas Patrias” in San Miguel, so we celebrate the anniversary of Colonel Lucas Balderas and Gregorio Vicente Gelaty death at the battle of Molino del Rey in 1847 and there will be a Civic Event at the Jardin at 10:00 Am.

Lucas Balderas is one of the little-known heroes of Mexico, even he was born in San Miguel.

Here´s a brief biography of him:
Lucas Balderas was a Mexican military officer who fought in the Mexican-American War. He was born in San Miguel el Grande, Guanajuato, Mexico, on October 18, 1797, to a poor family. He joined the army at a young age and rose through the ranks, eventually becoming a colonel.
Balderas fought bravely in the Battle of Molino del Rey, where he was killed on September 8, 1847.
He is considered a hero in Mexico and his name is remembered in the corridor named after him in San Miguel, the popular “Mercado de Artesanias”.

Some additional facts about Lucas Balderas:

He was a self-taught man who learned to read and write despite his humble beginnings.
He was a skilled military strategist and tactician.
He was known for his bravery and his willingness to fight for his country.
He was a popular figure among his troops and was respected by his superiors.
He was killed in action at the Battle of Molino del Rey, where he led his men in a heroic charge against the American forces.
An old picture of him is located in the office Municipal Library on Pepe Llanos Street, and is the one on this post.
A memorial stone for both Colonels is located at the main stairs of the City Hall and you can go and see it.

Balderas's death was a major blow to the Mexican army, but his bravery and sacrifice are remembered to this day.

Many have been asked, about where to read in English the real and trustable history of San Miguel and find good sources of information and not be misinformed in makeshift tours led by non-certified tour guides or non-academic webpages.
