Maputo
A modern city on the shores of Maputo Bay, with a rich history from Portuguese colonial era still evident in many buildings. Streets packed with sellers of basically any item you can think of. Fresh seafood, directly from the ocean daily outside the Porta de Pesco entrance for self catering or enjoy prepared from many quality restaurants and food stalls all the city.

Bazaruto Islands
A hotspot for divers with over 18 dive sites to explore a remarkable biodiversity of marine life, anemones, illuminating soft and hard corals, overhangs and drop-offs with dive sightings of humpback whales (between July & September), whale sharks (between April & July), dolphins and the rare Dugong.
Vilanculos
Commercial hub and holiday destination 750 km from Ressano border * Direct flights from SA and Maputo on a daily basis. Real island vibe beach environment on the mainland with charters availble to the Bazaruto islands. Great for fishing.

If quiet, tranquility and island-style remoteness is your call, then BD Point situated at the Govuro River Delta with endless deserted beaches and azure blue ocean is worth the 900 km trip from Ressano border. Connected to mainland by a 6km narrow dune, mangrove forests with tropical islands and river systems to explore.
Dolphins and whales breach nearby between July and November as they migrate to warmer waters.
