Everest Base Camp trek ranks among the top most trekking routes in the world. In fact it is the second most popular trek in Nepal after Annapurna. As the name suggests, Everest Base Camp is the shortest journey to base camp of Mt. Everest (8848m), the highest peak on earth along with an incredible experience of mountains, rivers, natural wilderness and rich culture of Sherpa community.
The trek begins from Lukla, which is just 25 minutes flight away from Kathmandu. The trail passes through Everest National Park, a world heritage sites, and follows the Dudh Koshi River. Enjoying constant backdrop of mountains along the way, you will reach Namche, the Sherpa capital, where you will rest a day exploring Sherpa culture, modern restaurants and visiting Everest Museum. The trail ahead passes through small hamlets of Pangboche, Dingboche, Pheriche and finally leading to Gorakshep. It will take two hours to reach Kalapatthar (5545m) from Gorakshep but the views from the top of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Island peak and Khumbu Glacier is simply breathless. Afterwards you can visit Everest Base Camp at a height of 5364m to enjoy the south face of Mt. Everest as well as meet hundreds of mountaineers from all over the world.
